Sombra Just Won The Shanghai Dragons Their First Match in Franchise History

Just shows that EMP is good. It says nothing about the rest of her kit, which most Sombra players (including myself) are having the most issues with.

I asked for sombra nerfs before it was cool

Actually while EMP is good for engages, Sombra’s hack can be good to make an enemy practically useless for a bit. And her gun is a good close range weapon. And if she is low how she can yeet herself out with translocator

I mean, the main reason she’s successful is because Boston literally ignored her.

like they would look at her, shoot briefly, and then look away. Like wtf.

Unfortunately it takes six people to use Sombra properly, a solo-queue player can stick all this where the sun doesn’t shine.

Blizzard: well since she helped the worst OWL team finally win a match, this clearly means she’s overpowered most be nerfed

If they waste cooldowns on her they will get ran over. They arent ignoring her, she’s just hard to punish and using a cooldowns on her at that level will be punished by the enemy tanks

They don’t need to waste cooldowns on her. I mean they LITERALLY collectively turned their backs on her and not one of them even tried shooting at her.

She’s an EMP bot and they’re letting her get away with free ultimate charge. Lol.

I’m just disappointed that the one day I had to travel and couldn’t watch the match they won. I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE T_T

While I am happy that Shanghai got their first win and all, I don’t think it was really the Sombra that got them the win. I think it was more Gamsu. He and the rest of the team were finally able to click.

Shanghai really needed that team leader. They have lots of good players like Geguri, Diya, and Fearless, but they never had that one leader type that the entire team can rally around, and I think Gamsu was finally able to click with them and fill that role of team leader. His synergy with Geguri on Ilios was amazing, and his synergy with Dding’s Sombra in the other maps was great too.

Dding may have been the MVP for that match, but if they want to keep the momentum going and get more wins, then they’re going to need Gamsu. He’s really the unsung hero in all this. He’s the one that can really keep everyone together and lead them and help get Shanghai more wins. Along with the talent they already have on the roster.

That being said, people are still probably going to use that series to justify nerfs to Sombra. Especially when we get more OWL stats via winstonslab or other similar sites.

This makes me sad. Sombra is automatically going to get all the credit and get nerfed further because switches are easier to see than someone being a leader.

Implying they ever stopped.

Never implied they stopped.

Just that there’ll be more.

On one hand good on the Shanghai Dragons for using Sombra and winning.
On the other hand it looks like Sombra ain’t getting made better for us plebs anytime soon now.

How did people NOT know Sombra is a game changer? Is this…that hard to see for most people?

Looking at the actual game it’s clear that Sombra was not the winning factor.
Gamsu won that for them, he brought SD together and synergised really well with Geguri and Dding, without him that would have been another loss for them.
If you watch the game you see that the enemy team basically ignored Dding for most of the game (kinda shows how much of a threat Sombra really is) and let him get free ult charge.

She’s a non-threatening ult bot, that’s what her last changes turned her into and it’s a role that she desperately needs to be freed from.

They won’t next time that is for sure.

This will be a lesson they will NOT forget in a hurry.

She deserves better than that. i totally agree.

Yes, yes it is. It’s a recurring theme on this site to say ā€œSombra is terribleā€ because teams in lower elos don’t coordinate and they refuse to play with friends who listen to callouts.

And also with the fact that once people think she ā€œsucksā€ they never give her the time of day anyways to try (especially with good Sombra players too). This is what is sad. The potential to do so much, to make new ways of winning wasted because of ā€œhive mindā€ and other irrelevant things said by people that think they know everything.

EMP is so  in OWL.

I don’t get why people find the ability exciting. Oh, you just disabled the entire team’s abilities on a game mode where they need to stick together then steam rolled them. WOW THE PLAYS!!!11
