I’m having a tank battle then I’m hacked. Other tank wins. Great. There’s no counter play to it
“Welcome to Overwatch, a team-based shooter.”
Been playing since 2016 when the game wasn’t seen as a joke
“And why do you then get upset about the hack? The hack is currently a joke. I would do anything to get Overwatch 1 Sombra back even in the slightest.”
Why do you use quotes when you type? Never mind don’t talk to me you are weird
“So that people like you can ask dumb questions!”
Sombra was in the game in 2016. Added late but added in 2016.
To be precise, that was during BlizzCon 2016. Sombra hacked her way into BlizzCon.
Yeah but in 6v6 you typically had another tank to help peel for the hacked tank. OP is complaining that in 5v5 if the tank gets hacked it feels more like a death sentence because it creates a guaranteed opening for the other team to capitalize on.
I think the argument may be a tad bit simplified, but their general point is not completely wrong or anything.
Fair but in OW1 hacks lasted for 6s right. Not 1s. So losing one tank made it so she lost 5/6 of the utility it used to have.
Yeah that’s why I was saying they kind of simplified it a bit. I think that’s just what they were getting at, though.
Sounds no different than getting anti naded by Ana. Just have a Kiriko handy. And hack only locks out abilities for a literal second and some change.
Sombra has been broken since her introduction. The concept is simply not capable of working in a game like OW. She will always be on a knife’s edge for volatility. I think her current version on live is probably the best they’ve managed to reign her power in whilst still keeping her impactful.
But as a character she’ll just never fit as well as say Tracer or Winston do.
However, it should be mentioned that in Overwatch 1, hacks later lasted ONLY 5 seconds. This change was introduced at a time when Overwatch was intentionally being let go because it was supposed to die.
By calculation, Sombra needs 3.5 seconds of hack duration to fully exploit it herself. The reason is simple. Sombra needs 3 seconds to empty a magazine and 0.4 seconds to switch from hacking to her weapon. This leaves 0.1 seconds to escape. However, with the new teleport, this calculation no longer holds.
Nevertheless, 3.5 seconds on a tank would be too strong, so why not limit it like Ana’s sleep? Tanks would only get a 2-second disable—problem solved.
Set the cooldown to 8 seconds and remove this artificial cooldown. Of course, Virus would then have to be removed from her kit.
OP isn’t remembering correctly I think. Tanking into 6s silence was an absolute nightmare straight from the depths of hell. It was by far the worst thing tanks ever had to experience or ever will imo. Made anti look like winning the lottery.
I was playing against a ana and Sombra as tank. Was horrible
Sombra is tough, because the way I see it she’s meant to be used in the specific circumstance of like a widow just hard carrying. Then you need to pull out a stealth character to get out of spawn and focus the carry to give your team a chance at a decent match, etc.
But of course she can just be used any time, and is now often used to camp spawn which is the lowest of the low imo or just hack the tank bot which I don’t think is her intended purpose.
It’s almost like certain characters should have a timer on how much they can be played or circumstance to activate them (team stuck in spawn x amount of time), because sometimes you need certain unfun tools in your arsenal to have a chance, but they shouldn’t be played constantly.
Not a real suggestion because it would never happen, but just saying unfun kits are sometimes necessary but how do you get them to not be one-tricked?
hardcounter team based game
I don’t think you necessarily need hard counters; it just makes life easier but isn’t essential. I enjoy playing Sombra, and when the enemy has a Widowmaker, the same thing always happens. Either she switches immediately after the first death caused by Sombra, or she changes her position to be near a support.
The latter is again teamwork. Personally, I even recommend trying to play against your counter with your hero, as it helps you learn and understand how to act. Furthermore, it’s worth playing the hero that counters you to see what you can do.
This isn’t like CoD where you can play solo or just jump into a round without engaging with the game at all.
yeah but try to play against your soft counters is a a lot diferent to try to play against your hardcounter xd.
hardcounters are bad hero designs.
