Even if you win, after playing against a sombra it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth because of how frustrating it is to be hacked. Often without the sound effect starting or around a corner still. I have even see doomfist players be hacked while in meteor strike.
Edit:
For people trying to compare other CC to hack:
Earthshatter (ULT) - The buggiest ultimate in the game, hard to land consistently
Blizzard (ULT) - Very hard to freeze more than 1 person due to the time it takes and the fact people can use mobility to escape easily
Mei Freeze (Passive M1) - same as blizzard, takes a considerable amount of time while standing point blank in front of the enemy,
Graviton Surge (ULT) - One of the slowest charging ultimate’s in the game which requires a combo with another ult to be effective in most circumstances, a lot of potential for counter-play with support ults
Quick Stuns (Brig, McCree, Doom Etc) - Point blank ability that last less than a second before full control of hero restored.
Hack (Ability and ULT) - Lasts 6 seconds with full restriction on abilities. Once hack is over, can rehack in 2 seconds. Almost the same max range as earthshatter and takes 0.65 seconds to pull off. One of the few CC abilities with bugs in its favour, such as the sound effect not playing or able to still finish the hack with no LoS and often through shields. Reveals enemy Ult. For a lot of heroes, if you miss a single shot (or the hero even has a ranged attack) during hack you dont have time to fire a second leaving a lot less counterplay than is suggested.
Edit: For those saying about a doomfist player complaining about sombra, I have an icon for DF but I am a support player.

I don’t think doomfist has a right to complain about an oppressive hero.

How about playing one of her counters?

Doomfist icon =/= doomfist player, just the concept of being able to hack a player while they arent even in the map is broken

Oppressive heroes win matches.
Sombra does not win matches, she has amongst the worst win rates in the game at every rank.

Hack only counters ability based characters, of course it will feel oppressive if you’re playing Doom/Hammond/Reinhardt and so on.
It’s fine, let her live people.

Sombra isn’t oppressive, hack is. Hard CC is and will always oppressive.
Yet hard CC is the only reliable counter to High Mobility hero’s who would otherwise run rampant without it. See Tracer since release until Brigitte came out, for instance. Ironically high mobility hero’s have the best chance to avoid hard CC as well. Still, the only reliable way to deal with them is to take away their mobility. It’s a necessary evil.
And come on now, it’s on Sombra. The hero who practically is hacked all the time with no offensive abilities to speak of. When she hacks you, she’s bringing you down to her level with only her primary fire to deal damage.

This game is filled with abilities that don’t allow you to move, kill-combos, and One-shots… But the ability that allows you to still move and shoot, does no damage, can be stopped with one damage, canceled by loss of LoS, and only affect one person at a time is the most oppressive ability and makes that character the most oppressive character. The same character that needs this ability to control the fight before it starts because even though they are a dps, they have no finisher ability or tools to stay in the fight so it is crucial they use this ability if they can so that they maximize their survival…
Seems legit.

Whats with Sombra getting kneejerked into a nerf?
She doesn’t need a nerf, nor a buff. Shes fine.

Except it isnt canceled by loss of LoS anymore, countless times i can fade or GA away around a corner and still be hacked
Ahhh… another post about Sombra from someone that can’t react fast enough to shoot her before getting hacked. In return wants hack nerfed.
You brought up fade. Moira is one of the easiest heroes that can interrupt hack.

But you are missing the fact that quite often it doesnt interrupt hack, i play with 35 ms but i can still be hacked mid fade, which is why i brought up the doomfist example of being hacked while off the map.
Don’t fade and just hold RMB and turn to her? I have 30ms and interrupt hack more times than not even with someone like S76. It’s really just as simple as hear her, turn and shoot. With Moira even if you do get hacked then you’re still doing damage to her and will self heal.

It puts you at the same level as her. It’s not oppressive. It’s making a matchup fair for her. If she killed you, you were outplayed. Simple as that

Well said. I really don’t understand why people think the softest CC in the game with the most counterplay is the most oppressive.
You are complaining about lag combined with “prefer the shooter” network code. This isn’t anything specific to hack. It applies to all kinds of things. Widow/Hanzo head shots when you are behind the wall on your screen, High Noon hitting you around a wall, flash bang after you’ve already blinked twice (yeah, that day was the day I quit Tracer), Reinhardt sucking you into charges like a vacuum, and many, many more things.
Sure, it’s frustrating. But that’s just the way it has to work when playing an online game.

All hack does is turn a disadvantageous situation for Sombra (i.e. a 1v1) into a fair duel. And in the vast majority of cases, even those duels are to her disadvantage as her peashooter is weak and horribly inaccurate.
If you’re losing to a low-DPS hero in a fair fight then that’s entirely on you.

Looks at current doomfist, unstoppable tracers, and flying genji’s…

I don’t mind hack. Even the 0.6 cast time is fine.
But perma invis just makes it VERY frustrating to play against, and honestly, I don’t feel it was needed. 0.6 seconds meant that if you played smart and tracked the Sombra well, you had a very good chance of counterplay.
Now she can just sit in a corner for 5 minutes waiting for the exact moment you stop looking. There is next to no interaction, even as D.va, where my accuracy drops from 30% down to ~10% in any game against a Sombra because I’m spending the entire game spychecking.
