All thanks to Blizzard removing/nerfing OW1 abilities and 6 vs 6 that made her a pest.
She’s an absolute nightmare for DPS and healers coming out of spawn alone while the team is away in distance with 4 player down.

As a Sombra player, I refuse to spawn camp. It’s pretty scummy and really isn’t that effective for your team. All your doing is making it a 4v4. Also, constantly lurking by spawn is boring and brainless.
You could argue that if your spawn camping a high value target (either a support or a DPS who’s carrying) that it’s a good trade. But if you’re good, you can keep killing that person AND contribute to your team by picking your engagements intelligently, then helping your team follow up.

old sombra was just fine. new sombra is completely vulgar in many aspects.
Blizzard went back to its roots of BS reworks of playable characters. They didn’t learn a thing in World of Warcraft. just more rinse-repeat job security measures in order to act like they are doing something, when instead they are trying to repaint a picture by splashing paint all over it and hope that it looks nice again, when it clearly doesn’t.
They have never learned a GD thing in 15 years.

Same here. Spawn camping is dishonorable and cheesy. Sombra isn’t even advantaged against most supports anyway.

I had a QP game on Nepal that turned into a 3v3 because our Sombra and Baptiste went into their spawn and spawn camped their Zen and Sojourn. We won, but I didn’t feel good about it.

I feel like I’m doing a god’s work when I spawn camp a zen or bastion. At least, i hope our tank takes notice that those heros are suddenly missing.

playing sombra all the time has made me a stalker. yea she is very strong in 1v1s now and i can kill hanzo way more easier than before. i use to avoid the guy as much as i can but now i love bullying him. also yea… camping supports. i feel dirty but hey, thats what she is meant to do now it seems like
i held a mercy hostage and a hanzo one game, turned the game around actually. it was on the new junkertown map. the 5 point control thing, she has more carry potential now
it is pretty nasty but yea i never asked for this buff. i was alright with old sombra, all they had to do was buff her kit a bit in that version but now they made her an awesome asssassin

If it’s a support than it’s very effective. Trading a dps for a support is a win.

Oh man, I love spawn camping Zen’s as Sombra. Every time I see a Zen I know it’s farming time. Usually they swap after 3-4 deaths, but sometimes they insist in sticking with it into the high double digit deaths.
Best part? Zen is slow AF. After I kill him, I know I have time to go help my team get another pick before I intercept him slowly floating his soon-to-be-respawning-again backside back to the fight.

Camping the supports is fine, it’s Sombra’s job.
As support main the Sombra problem is not a Sombra problem, it’s a teammate’s problem.
They tunnel vision and don’t help when help is asked.
Or “Not my problem”. Support are supposed to be OP, so a support must carry the team alone, heal, substain teammates, kill enemy supports, do aditionnal damages, and defend himself without help at same time.
Sombra is like the spy from TF2. Not just because of invisibility.
Against a disorganized team of lone wolves, the spy is a god of death.
Against an organized team with cooperation, spy is not of much use. Best is to switch to a soldier or a demoman.
Sombra a pest? It’s her job and she has to do it well otherwise she’s useless.

just had a quickplay game in busan where i had 40 eliminations and 10,341 damage. dont think i could do that on old sombra lol. kind of cool how she is a killing machine now if you work at it (well there was a widowmaker that didnt want to switch)

If the damage is too high it will surely be nerfed.
Anyway regularly changing op characters in this game is how it’s managed.
Season 7 is new Sombra’s season.

Killing is good, but harassing an opponent to the point that they become paranoid, lose focus, and don’t do the job they need to do is already a victory.
I’m not afraid of Sombra. I know how to duel. In our encounters, no one dies most of the time.
However during the time I faced her, I only did that, and not what else I was supposed to do, while Sombra only did the work she was supposed to do.
So it’s a victory for her. No need to kill. Just harassment. To be a pest.
