Solo Queue Tips (Console)?

TL;DR: tips on how to get out of bronze coming from a former high silver support main that can flex to tank

Need some solo queue tips at bronze-gold ranks besides “git good.” My goal was to reach gold this season because I was 2-3 games away from gold last season but now my goal is to get out of low bronze.

I can play all the supports but mostly prefer to play Mercy, Brigitte, and Moira (I’d say Ana too but so far my win:lose:tie ratio is 9:28:0, so I no longer want to consider Ana as my main now). I can play all the tanks except for Hammond, but prefer to mostly play Dva, Orisa, and Zarya. However, I’ll play Reinhardt or Winston if absolutely necessary. I try to pick who I think fits best with the team.

Comps is making me hate the game more and more each day.

You need someone to review your gameplay. Can you record games?

Not quite sure how to do so and also who would I get to watch my gameplays???

Anyone higher with good observing skill. If we will see your game play we can tell you what are you doing wrong so you can focus on improving. General tips won help you.

How to record on console ? No clue, use Google to find out. I am pc player.

First of all my biggest tip, if you lose a game immediatly stop playing comp. Take a break for at least half an hour or so. I noticed in my own games that if I kept playing after losing like “just one more” I always ended up losing and youll get toxic and demotivated. Another tip especially if youre playing a healer: don’t risk your life to save team mates. The most important thing for you to do is not dying and if a teammates goes in al alone thats not your fault, just stay in the backline and wait till he returns or dies. I dont really have any tips for tanks since I dont play them a lot. You just have to stay positive and keep trying

Don’t know which console you play on but If you play on ps4 you can double tap the share button and it will start recording your gameplay. Tap it again to finish recording. You can upload the video from your ps4 straight to your youtube channel if it is linked with your psn. I’m sure xbone has a similar feature but I don’t have one. From here you can watch your own games and review what you could do to improve. I did this back when i was in gold and climbed all the way to diamond.

Get a mouse and keyboard and just play mercy for ez carry.

I am diamond PS4 support player. I will review your footage. Who can also flex to all tanks.

If you dropped from almost Gold to low Bronze, something serious happened that you probably already know about, and that you need to address. Your gameplay got significantly worse, consistently, over a long period of time, while playing carry roles, and basically throwing matches. There’s no way it’s a mystery to you.

Are you using drugs or alcohol while playing?

To anyone else out there who came into this thread expecting good advice… the way to climb through the middle ranks on console is…

  1. Take at least an hour in target range to get your controller setting perfect. Understand what each of the aim settings does, and tune them for every hero you play (or class of heroes, eg hitscan vs dive tanks). Understand that there are a lot of techniques that you simply cannot do with certain heroes unless your sensitivity is high or low enough. In general, your sens should be as high as possible without missing shots. I play at 48 on an elite controller with the tallest aim stick for most DPS, but for certain characters like Winston it’s up around 90. Even once you’ve got your controller setting really dialed in, come back to it every week or so and give the sens a bump up a few points, until you stop being able to adapt to the new higher setting. This will not happen overnight, but you will get significantly faster at the game by doing this.
  2. Communicate, and learn the callouts. Always join team chat, and talk even if nobody else is. Many people can still hear you, and they may decide to help you out. Even if you’re alone in the chat, say what you’re going to do a few seconds before you do it. “I’m going to shatter. Get ready to clean them up.” Your big 5-man shatter that you only normally get 2 kills out of just became a 3 or 4 kill play. That change alone is enough to carry games.
  3. Understand what synergies you need, and if you’re not getting it, then swap immediately. If you are getting help, then use it and make sure your pick works with the team. Comp isn’t about finding the best solution; it’s about finding the solution that’s just good enough to win the game.
  4. Stay alive. Really can’t stress this enough. Sacrifice plays hardly ever work.
  5. Play with one other person who’s hero pool and play style compliments your own. That way you always have at least have two people working together. Again, still join team chat.

Idk what youre expecting. No one is gonna say some magical words that get you into top 500. Just get good.
