Soldier's recoil is too predictable

His recoil is incredibly consistent and easy to counteract. It sways almost purely vertically at a consistent speed and he is now pinpoint accurate. I wouldn’t expect players to jump into their first game and have god aim, but once players develop muscle memory this is going to be an issue in high-level play.

I don’t want to see Soldier nerfed for something that most low-mid level players can’t achieve, as that will make him useless for most players.

That’s called cheating.

It’s not all vertical.

It creates a slight, wavy “S” pattern, and the direction (s or backwards s) either is random or it switches between clicks.

You’re right, it’s not. It’s just that the sway to the sides is so incredibly minor that it will scarcely matter even at long ranges.

It depends on the hero. Under some circumstances, I have a chance to burst (several crits)+helix a widow, before she can charge a shot at soldiers falloff range.

I don’t think it’s possible with recoil, at long distances due to the tiny crit atea.

I’ll have to try this some more though.

The horizontal sway does matter, though not as much as I thought. The crucial difference is that horizontal swap does affect consistency at long range for most soldiers (like myself); or it will add an initial upfront uncertainty and a delay (again, at long range), for the very best soldiers.

This change adds depth to soldier’s fire, and horizontal seems to be a high skill cap. Or something that cheaters will pay for
