Soldier76 (op) has become the new Junkrat:76! Discussion

I tried to live with it and adjust to it but now it is just too much! :angry: He needs to be nerfed/taken down a notch and be more what he was before - today he has become a new kind of spambased hero from what he was before.

Have no no clue if its the same situation in COMP as in QP… I gave up competitive 2 years ago because of all toxicity, seriousness and it became boring to play when u always ended up irritated and in a bad mood. Im no High-end/Top Player - highest rating for me was diamond/low master for 2-3 seasons with some help from skilled friends - but I’m NOT there normally so I think im around gold/plat at best today - so my biggest achievment is that I played a lot haha :laughing: … 3,5 K hours on main acc by now so I played a few games… :innocent:

SO WHAT ABOUT OUR GUY JACK MORRISON??
Nowdays he is almost in every & every QP/DM game - which is a sign Blizz! :sunglasses: - not just bc he is a good overall pick - but he does incredibly and way too much damage. All his latest buffs made him a monster tbh.

  1. Damage → His buffed dmgoutput and rate of fire make him soo deadly. He will break a Rein-shield in 10 sec (incl. reload)… and an Orisa-shield take him 4 sec to break!!! 4 seconds guys!! :scream: (Confirmed in Wiki and Custom game)

  2. Speed → He is one of the fastest and most movable DPS in game with his sprint. Means he can both flank and get out of trouble when needed pretty easily.

  3. Selfheal → 500 healthpoints during 15 sec can make him survive and kill anything attacking him if he stays within radius.

… and IF the soldier is babysitted/pocketed by a Mercy he gets Godlike and practically impossible to kill - a good Mercy and ur game is over :zzz: . With all of the good abilities above and some nerfs to tank/support recently make him overpowered as heck in the game. With his maneuverability, speed and injury (and of course his own self-heal) he alone can decide a match - even if he is only an average soldier. That sounds a bit like a definition of OP … :thinking: :innocent:

NOWDAYS HE IS A NEW KIND OF HERO-TYPE: Spam-scan!!
If you play QP games where there is a soldier - just listen - you hear him empty clip after clip, reloading and then the next clip after next… and so it goes on. He does so much damage with his weapon that he will always make tons of damage → regardless if hitting shields, tanks or other heroes. He builds ULT superfast at the same time with all the damage made. One clip empties in 4 seconds - reload 1,5 sec - and there we go again - over and over… :woozy_face:

WHAT KIND OF HERO SHOULD SOLDIER76 BE??
Idk wht you guys think but the ā€œbefore soldierā€ was more original hitscan - used sprint to move/flank - controlled bursts of fire to keep aim - use Helix -reload and replace/move/new bursts - then if needed heal urself or team and new position/focusing a Phara etc etc… Nowdays he just hold his leftbutton until clip is empty/Helix/reload 1,5 sec and empty next clip. To be honest I feel like junkrat use more aim and planning than what a Soldier76 do nowdays :smiley:

Above is why I think that he is becoming a new kind of hero. To much damage and too much pay-off - and with a good Mercy/support he affects the game far too much as one hero - which by definition, means he is overpowered. So Blizzard needs to tone down one or more of his good abilies that together make him too powerful. Junk-76 needs to disappear and old soldier come back…

Do we want the original hitscan Soldier76 become the spamhero he is started to become now?? What are your thoughts?? (Sorry for the wall of text mates! :rofl:)

He is legit in every single match

What if we buffed defense matrix so Dva can counter the menace soldier :eyes:

I really don’t have a problem with S76 being the top Hitscan because you can actually deal with him than other actual hitscans especially Widowmaker and Tracer

I’ve been having less problem with Soldier currently than I did with Cree when he was on top. One of these hitscans are always going to be on top, and I’d prefer Soldier over the others.

You’d probably have to nerf her armor if you buff her DM

Nah she needs the 50/50 split to function well. We’re getting a buffed DM in OW2 anyway so it’s just a matter of time.

dva doesnt need buffs omg she is finally for once in the history of overwatch decently balanced, pls pls plsssss don’t destroy that

Yea isnt she getting 200/400 with 4 sec matrix, 10 sec recharge, 1sec cd and 15m range? Its gonna be so nice to actually be main tank dva from season 3 again

300/300 with supposedly 4 second DM at 10 meter range 1 second cooldown very similar to how she is now.
I say supposedly because even though that’s what people say the duration was in the play testing, I saw both 3 second total in one clip and 4 seconds in another. Kind of weird. Guess we’ll know for sure come the next livestream if they play her.

What would be useful is a Recoil Nerf. It’s really easy to control right now. Why not make it a little more random that the recoil also goes to the right and left than just up? As a result, he would not lose any of his damage potential (360 crit dps) and, in and of itself, only the skillceling would be increased.

Soldier isn’t even being used that much in high ranks… he’s like the 4th most played dps or even lower…

In OW2 sure, but she doesnt need DM buff in OW1 right now

There is no controlling random left and right recoil. It won’t increase skill, it will just feel much worse to play and obviously be a nerf. But doesn’t do anything for skill.

Literally every major game with recoil has randomness built in, Soldier in OW is the only character I can think of that has 0 spread and recoil pattern is ā€œjust slightly pull straight down.ā€

It’s way too easy to manage in a game that every other comparable weapon has to deal with random spread.

Yes, overwatch is different compared to many other shooters where pretty much no hero has recoil at all. Plus many with the recoil patterns also have way lower ttk. Either way if soldier really does end up needing a nerf, just reverting his dmg to 19 and healing back to 40 sounds much better than making him more inconsistent and random.
