Why do you buff the damage of heroes that don’t require aim (Winston, Moira), but when it comes to a character that needs to aim, you increase his projectile size instead of damage? Literally 20 damage would have been perfect.
Now everyone is playing Soldier, one of my mains, because he’s free value and doesn’t need aim. Yet even when I have 50-60% accuracy shooting squishies, it’s like nothing dies because 250 HP pools + low damage.
Please get this in order. Stop buffing projectile sizes, increase damage instead. Every hero that requires a no-aim ability seems to be buffed because it appeals to new players.
Because you’re supposed to use your amazing skill to hit headshots which are now easier
Also no hitscan really takes skill since season 9…. And even with 0.05 size bullets before his buff he shouldn’t be killing any faster and didn’t deserve more damage- him getting a size buff was childish, but more deserved than a damage buff (unless said damage buff came with a size nerf! Then if support that.)
But anyway yeah if nothing is dying fast enough hit more headshots, it’s NOT hard to do right now.
So in order. Soldier is not a good pick. He is actually quite terrible right now. I mean I guess this is one of those low to mid metal rank issues but Soldier is not a good pick once people actually pay attention.
I also find it fascinating how people will Soldier, who you track to aim with, requires no aim but Cassidy who you only have to flick to aim with (though you can track if you want) does.
I have 12% critical accuracy on average. Increasing projectile sizes can also disrupt headshots because when they are larger, they can accidentally hit the body first before they hit the head.
If the developers could finally listen, either reduce healthpools back to 200 HP, or make his aim pin-point and increase his damage. Classic Overwatch felt infinitely better to play hitscan than whatever we have right now
Literally what I’m suggesting. They need to stop increasing projectile sizes and reward actual aiming/accuracy with higher damage. Even 20 feels good and does around 180 DPS (9 rounds/second * 20 damage)
Sure yes let’s go back to pre season 9- I’m in full agreement.
But in that case k wouldn’t buff his damage because 19 back then was MORE than enough for him (not to mention what he’d do to 200 hp with his stim perk…)
Agree. I’d take 200 HP and reduced projectile sizes any day of the week. They should revert all the damage buffs that came post S9.
If the developers/community is freaking out about Juno/speed and it being hard to hit, reduce speed modifier or increase cooldown so dives aren’t done as often (though poor Juno suffered enough nerfs)
Aaron doesn’t like FPS and thus, want to minimize aim diff from the game. But it seems there wasn’t enough skill diff for a competitive game without aim diff. Tier variance indeed was all-time low since S9 patch. So, they heavily inflated the tiers this season and made perks and the stadium imo. A bit more complexity for enough skill diff.
They might be under the impression that “complex = better”, but simplicity is often valued more.
I don’t want to play League of Legends Overwatch competitively, we already have many same voice actors and design, we don’t need to clone other games.
No doubt it will be fun, but it will be ruined because I heard they’ll force it to be a competitive mode only instead of putting it in arcade and leaving some other games like Junkenstein
Yeah, KISS principle is a virtue for FPS. But it seems Aaron or OW2 devs in general really don’t like FPS, perhaps because they want to do something very creative but FPS doesn’t allow it. So they follow the MOBA way.
I don’t hate MOBA, but I’m worried about the way they do. I think they should first increase the number of abilities for MOBA way rather than numerous cheap and dirty passives/perks.
They already tested mirrorwatch, I don’t know why they didn’t try implement it in production by forcing different teams with different abilities that are polar opposites. That would encourage different play styles and reduce annoying mirrors.
For example Mauga v Mauga, mirrorwatch would have easily solved the “shoot the other tank to survive” by making the attacking Mauga’s cardiac overdrive inflict damage back if being shot at for 3 seconds (Minecraft thorns enchantment), literally directly countering the defending Mauga’s cardiac overdrive
Instead they added perks that people seem to arbitrarily get first before others despite others not having bad stats? That’s just asking for more variables to balance.
Would be better if perks could be picked from the get-go
I’d love for ranks to have bigger sr differences around the most populated ranks. That way there could be a bigger skill difference between different tiers and bigger differences between those mid ranks.
That way gold 5’s would end up in gold 1 less often and matches would feel better to play. Mmr wise.
Soldier 76 is kinda garbage still, his damage isn’t sufficient in this game. Very few characters are actually afraid to face Solider 76 head on.
Any good S76 would do more damage and frag out harder on McCassidy, real talk.
Also, that patch that increased HP across the board didn’t help S76 at all. Now Reaper or Mei have 300hp and helix rocket still only hits for 120, what gives… Not to mention Ana, that now has effectively 350hp with self nade, at least they didn’t give her armor.
Reminds me of a joke I have of Ashe being higher skill than Widowmaker, because Ashe has to click heads twice as opposed to once. Whether or not that’s really the case is open to reader interpretation.
Either way, is there a general consensus on whether tracking or aiming is more difficult? I don’t know these things, I’m not an aim-maxxer, outside of “getting better over time in game”.
Tracking is harder than flicking especially in a game like overwatch. Most people would consider overwatch a movement shooter so unless you have good tracking you’re better off playing high burst hitscan. In my opinion, I think that Ashe does take more skill than Widow since the enemy can actually challenge an Ashe unlike a Widow who would just one tap them.
