Was playing soldier recently.
He is arguably the weakest of all the DPS and thats why:
1.His clip is very small. Most of combats is soldier sprinting without bullets.
2.He is bad at breaking shields, cause his clip is very small and he is bad at flanking, cause when flanks he gets killed right away by Widow/Doomfist in most cases.
Doomfist absolutely smokes and owns our white daddy.
Soldier needs Helix to headshot.
- His DPS on distance is low due to massive spread. While you can avoid it by using the tripple shots, tripple shots offer way lesser dps than of other hero choices.
Make Soldier Great Again!

Honestly at this point I would just rework him. He is the strongest he’s ever been in the history of the game but that still doesn’t help him one bit.
Rework his biotic field into an ability that makes his bullets ignore shields for 6 seconds (the number of seconds is debatable). Two birds in one stone. Give him a niche. Being a generalist in Overwatch is less about being a jack of all trades, and more about a master of none.

Giving him an ultimate that deals more damage to shields rather than this auto-aim bullcrap that does nothing to help his team would be a step in the right direction in making this game more dynamic and diverse. Too many shield type heroes dominating the meta right now, and they just recently added another. Seriously Blizzard, you guys just running out of ideas now or what?

You spelled “Sombra” wrong

Right, except her role is dedicated in that respect. In Soldier’s case, though initially weak to shields, his ultimate would temporarily reverse that. While not on the level of a Roadhog ultimate, Sombra hack, or Bastion minigun, he would be a nice go-between for all three. He would actually be able to create an opportunity for his team rather than wait for one to happen with his current ult.
2 Helix Rockets? Would that be too OP?
That would just be a severe lack of creativity on Blizzard’s part if they did that, and it’s bad enough already with their recent additions.
They sure did spell Bastion wrong.
Honestly just make it to where he doesn’t have to reload when using his ult. Make the clip size
while Tactical Visor is up.

At 120 damage each yes. What tjey could do is buff the rocket to do extra shield damage say 10 times this would provide a hero that can act as anti barriers and also allow s76 to clear the way for his ult.

Well then I wouldn’t know then. I think his kit is pretty obsolete considering the additional characters that have been implemented in the game.
More power creep is not the answer. Soldier is the ideal to which the other DPS should be balanced. Nerf everything else, tone down damage, healing, barriers, and CC across the board. Stop inflating numbers and kits or you end up in the very mess we have today.

Then you have a boring game.
1200 damage to barriers on an 8 second cooldown? As much as I hate barriers, that is completely broken.

No, you don’t. You have a game that isn’t barrierwatch, with a heaping helping of enough CC to stop a galaxy from spinning and a TTK so low science can’t accurately measure it. You have actual fights, positioning, and give-and-take.
Or, to put it another way, you have the game as it was before power creep destroyed its competitive integrity. Soldier was considered OP at 20 damage per bullet not all that long ago. Now he has 20 damage/round and is considered F-tier. Because of power creep.

Soldier doesn’t need a buff. Other DPS need nerfs. Soldier went from 17 damage per bullet to 19, to 20. Then he was nerfed because 20 was super OP. Then he had his spread tightened. Then got buffed back to 20.
Soldier right now is the strongest he’s ever been, even stronger than when he was nerfed before. And yet, he feels weak. Why? He feels weak because the other DPS he’s competing against are all too strong.
We must stop power creep. Don’t buff Soldier. Nerf others.

Soldier needs helix and reload on sprint and 30 rounds.
That is all.

If you think about, bullets are normally supposed to kill in 1 - 3 shots. But here he has to pump more than a magazine just to dumpster someone. Quite frankly, characters like him don’t belong in this kind of game.
Dude, this is Overwatch, not Operation Flashpoint. Want to kill and be killed in 1-3 shots? Go play that instead

Widow, Hanzo and Doomfist can do that though. So do Ashe and Mccree
