So y'all stop playing your alts when role queue arrives, right?

That was the number one defense of alt accounts. You didn’t want your healing SR to tank your dps SR, for example. Reasonable.

Now you have separate SRs, so I assume alt accounts won’t be used anymore. You can try at all levels with the same account and everyone will be happy. Right guys?

Definitely less need for alts but I’m sure there will be a fair share of master hitscan specialists that get an alt to practice genji on etc…

Except when they want to troll, and that’s the REAL reason behind alt accounts. The excuse of “I want to practice healer or tank” is complete BS. No one wants to admit it, but a HUGE portion of this game secretly enjoys throwing and trolling because reasons. And also, there will still be people who want to play with their friends on their “mains”, meaning a 3500 SR DPS who has a friend who’s 1700 SR isn’t going to play a healer to play with their friends. They’re going to want to boost their friends by playing a main, so throwing, boosting, smurfing, and rage quitting will still exist.

and for this and this reason alone
the first punishment for Sabotage reports needs to be a 2 week suspention at least cause a 24 hour suspention is a joke and does nothing to deter that type of behaviour

no, now i can have an sr for individual heroes. I wasted my money on them so im gonna use them

I have 2 accounts. One will be solo and one will be for the small amount of friends I occasionally play with in the event they want to play comp together. Otherwise, the extra account will just collect dust.

Nah, I’m good. I’m going to continue to play on my alt since I enjoy playing on my Main and Alt.

All alts become throw accounts when role queue comes out. QP, comp, and some arcade matches will have role queue.

The excuses for alts and smurfs are gone, but that won’t stop those players from attempting to justify them.

no. i’m still going to use my alt to practice roles i don’t play.

i’m way better than hitscan dps than i am at projectile.

Nope I use my alt to warm up/have fun/practice heroes and Role Q doesn’t change any of that

You can still use alternate accounts to smurf or troll, play with friends, avoid bans/suspensions, or to not damage your main account’s SR when you’re either playing late at night, warming up, or on heroes you don’t normally play.

So no, alt accounts will not go away. Still many reasons for people to use them.

Alts will still be a thing because you’ll want to see how you do on different tanks, dps, and healers. My level of play on Rein/Winston, is vastly different than Orisa, Dva, Hog, Zarya.

I speak for myself here but I feel there will be a lot like me. I personally just reached diamond mostly on orisa. Like, my rein is probably high plat at best and my hammond and winston are like low plat. Since role queue comes out, I’ll lose the need for my 3 alts on which I only practiced specific roles but I’ll still be playing on my alts for different heros. I feel that they won’t be throw accounts by default since I’ll be playing my hardest at a lower sr, at which I most likely belong for certain heros. Of course, there will always be ppl that throw but there will always be ppl that simply warm up/ practice dif heros while still trying their best.

I think that’s pretty accurate to what people are going to use their alts for. I know I will.

I will use my main to tryhard and my two alts (this included) to do all the scummy things people described here

so I started playing overwatch when the game came out, and what I do is, I buy a new account and play quick play until I get up to level 25. Then I play my first placement match, and then I never play on that account again. I go and buy a new one and start the process over.

I’d love to be an idealist and believe that the community would do the right thing, but it’s evident we will not. The devs need to step in and fix this nonsense.

Hardware bans for alts and smurfs would do the trick.

Yes, I definitely agree that the devs should have much stronger penalties. The penalties rn only “deter” bad behavior but I feel like they should “disable” such behavior. Honestly, if someone is purposely throwing in comp they probably don’t care about the game in the first place or probably only play once a week or month anyways. What would a 24 hour ban do against that? For those that genuinely care about the game and want to enjoy it, even one tricks, a hard bad would be a really serious penalty. If there’s enough evidence of intentional throwing, win trading, or inactivity I don’t see why they dont get hardware banned

I’m going to keep playing on 3 of my alternate accounts, but to be honest I’m not sure what to do with my “I will fill” account any more.

It was basically my tank training account anyway

You cannot hardware ban a computer. Families share devices and that would be insane, all in an effort to protect your ego since you cannot climb on your own.
