So why was Stadium Lucio nerfed but not Soldier?

Soldier is in every single match and he’s rolling them all. He has a LITERAL aimbot build, but Lucio’s build was “too accessible”? What are they smoking at Blizzard HQ?

Edit: I’m not saying Lucio didn’t need nerfs. I am saying that they took it way too far. I have a problem with them doing that while ignoring the absolutely oppressive and omnipresent Soldier 76. Double standards.

AKJ is to Mercy as you are to S76

Lucio had the highest winrate so that’s probably the motivation behind his nerfs. Not sure why Soldier escaped though.

Popularity is not a strict guarantee of success. I can only imagine that S76 has been average. I don’t recall S76 being mentioned in Win rate compared to simply popularity.

Sure, but at least anecdotally his builds are pretty crazy. I’ve been running a sprinting biotic field build and there’s not a whole lot the enemy can do about it once it gets up and running

He also had one of the lowest pick rates though.

I’m fine with him getting nerfed a bit, but they absolutely gutted him. Full on sledgehammer nerfs across the board to his build.

Because he’s really good and their internal stats bear that out…?

If you watch the stream from last night where devs played with Emongg (during the first game of stream, or close to the beginning), Aaron gave some stats about hero winrates and such. Lúcio I think has the highest win rate out of the entire cast so I’m assuming that may have been a factor.

And he has one of the lower pick rates. He needed minor nerfs, but that was excessive.

If it were Ana in that position, they probably would have buffed her instead.

Naw. The OP makes hero complaint threads about almost every hero over the years.

And heroes get changed over the years. It’s almost like balance is fluid. Wild.

The main thing was ease-of-use and consistency in his AP builds. Long Amp it Up durations, constant Soundwave heals and heavy Soundwave boops disrupting enemy tanks and oneshotting anyone foolish enough to be within 9m of a wall.

I mourn it too but it really was a bit too easy playing Lucio even if he was currently not that picked often.

It’s almost like you’re just one of the biggest hero complainers. And do so even when they are not actually overperforming, like you have complained about soldier so many times when he was far from even being meta.

I agree it was too powerful, but they outright gutted him. He’s just bad now.

Totally agree, Lucio was low key OP.

I insta lock Mercy every game, and it’s literally the only time Lucio + Mercy hard rolls. (Mercy beam buffs and Lucio’s insane survivability and ability builds makes tanks simply not die)

Yeah idk why they would nerf him that hard just cause he has a high winrate, was just saying what I heard.

They mention in the patch note that they wanted to reduce the potency of his healing items/powers for how accessible and strong they have been. This kind of makes sense to me if we were to justify nerfing items/powers which result in a high WR for a particular hero build. I think they should have just nerfed the power which was the main issue and see where that would have landed him.

They also buffed other items/powers in his armory so they were probably going for more of a balance shift of item/powers numbers to force some build variety in games. Though I don’t think it was really needed, if his pickrate is normal/below average then he shouldn’t have gotten hit with this many nerfs.

Unfortunately, they ended up putting his power into his weapon power build which just… Isn’t it.

I played it a few times last night and I did alright with it, but it felt super unrewarding and promotes a very passive playstyle depending on the enemy comp.

They would have buffed Ana if she had 58% win rate while in reality they did not do that when she has a 46% win rate. Forum Ana logic #4325

Granny has been meta for 8 years (with like one or two small exceptions)

And they still didn’t buff her when has lowest win rate in stadium. Clear favoritism
