So Sombra, a master hacker who can hack people so well they forget basic body functions. Mcree forgets how to tuck and roll. Genji and Hanzo forget how to jump and climb. And Reaper forgets how to transform his cells into decay to go into wraith form. But a technological visor used by Soldier 76? Sombra’s hacking ability still fails to crack such a thing.

Hack/EMP only stops channelled ultimates, ultimates with a cast-time, or placed ultimates.
Actually, it’s to keep it consistent. Otherwise I guess D.Va should lose her exploding mech when it gets EMP, right? Or it should cancel Valkyrie, right?

She does lose it when summoning her mech. In fact, she could be almost done with the animation of getting inside of it and poof. It just vanishes because she was hacked.

That falls under the cast-time category that I mentioned. But her exploding mech does not disappear when EMP’d.

Genji, Soldier and Winston don’t lose their ult when hacked. They transform, and that can’t be just undone. They just lose their extra abilities like sprinting, wall-climbing, jumping.

I’m aware. But approaching it from a players perspective who simply plays the game (but doesn’t delve into mechanics) it appears inconsistent. Mech vanishes from one but not the other.
It also just looks silly to see the mech that is right there suddenly pop out of existence.

Because tactical visor is a transformation ultimate. Personally i think what ults they decided could or couldn’t be hacked doesn’t make much sense, but whatever.

If she can hack his legs, she should definitely be able to hack his hi-tech visor too.
But gameplay-wise, Soldier’s ult is a transformation, not a channeled ult. Hack only affects the latter, so it makes perfect sense!

personally I think if Sombra hacks the mech while it’s in self destruct it shouldn’t go off. It’s a risk Sombra could take to save people. It would also require D.va team to be up there and protect the mech.
From a logic stand point…it makes no sense.
From a games standpoint, it makes sense since its transformation ults.
Though, its a bit stupid that she can’t shut down an ability created by technology, but thats just me 
Mechanically, transformation ults can’t be hacked.
Personally though, I think that’s stupid. They should absolutely be hackable, seeing as how they lack so much counterplay and are all among the best ults in the game already.
Channeled ults, by contrast, are virtually all bottom-tier and yet are comically easy to mitigate.

I would rather have had ult cancelling work the following way
All ults are able to cancelled during the initial cast time by stun/sleep/hack. This can be as short or as long as it needs to be to balance the individual ult.
Once the ult has started, projectile/buildable ults and close range ults aren’t stoppable.
I just feel like most people would think that they can hack Tactical visor, but not Whole Hog. Yet, it’s the other way around for the seemingly arbitrary reason that Tactical Advisor is safer than Whole Hog because it doesn’t disable his abilities.

Brigs ult is a transformation ultimate I believe, and armour isn’t effected by hack. Shields are however. (Edit: Only by EMP, though)
It’s purely for consistency.

She cannot hack any transformation ultimate. She can’t remove armor because additional armor is the counterplay to her.

Jk, Sombra can only cancel channeled Ults because its coding is based on a stun mechanic. Everything a flashbang cancels, she can cancel with hack.
Tac visor falls under transformation Ults and stays immune to hack.
