Shouldnt we have gotten some PvE news by the end of April? Or was this just another off season april fools joke by Blizz?
It was moved to May. Also it is a roadmap announcement not pve announcement
For the record while it is a roadmap update, it will likely include PVE details (Like a general release timeframe obviously)
Announcement-ception.
My personal advice for everyone is: donāt get your hopes up.
Maybe weāll see it, maybe we wonāt. Maybe itāll be good, maybe it wonāt.
Strange. I take this as bad news. Usually a roadmap is ready by the beginning of the year.
Itāll be moved to May, then june then july then october and a year goes by and still no PvE mode.
Iāve seen this play out before with other dishonest companies.
If they do release it āunlikelyā itāll be exactly what everyone expects it to be.
Trash. Nothing more than trash.
I can even predict their business plan for it.
āYou have to unlock heroes by getting these many levels. . . OR you can pay us to unlock them for youā
āNeed extra skill points for our poo UI that displays skill trees? We can offer you some if you give us moneyā
āOh and you only get half the mode because we are still in Beta phase, so you better give us even more money or bye bye impossible expectationsā
I have the feeling we wonāt be seeing any pve at all this year.
They seems to be dodging any mentioning of it and the last statement was that they are focusing on āimprovingā the pvp experience first.
I guarantee it was moved to May not only do they could combine PvE and PvP announcements but also so they could tie it into an anniversary event to begin building hype.
I was really excited when they announced it. Now that they said itās a 4v4 limited time event Iām falling asleep while thinking about it.
I really thought it could become a new MOBA-esque subgenre of overwatch with strategies, creative playmaking potential and combinations that we could also see in a competitive environmentā¦ turns out itās only 4 players on a team and a limited time eventā¦ really??? Itās like a mix of the halloween event and these weird event modes like lucioball/mei snowball, lifeweaver bob thingyā¦ sounds pretty meh but weāll seeā¦
we need more than this, we need things that change the game fundamentally, bring some chaos in and bring more sofisticated modes that are longterm viable, complex and engaging.
nobody cares about any of these boring arcade modes that donāt count for anything, donāt give any significant rewards and are just numbers tweaking on the workshop.
Starwatch is not the PVE.
My feeling is that we will get some PvE, probably really late, maybe even as late as season 8, but itāll be a disappointing fraction of what most people are expecting/was promised. Just enough to be able to say āsee? we said PvE in 2023 and we gave you PvE in 2023ā, but in terms of that grandiose, highly replayable, unique and enjoyable PvE experience we are expecting given the length of time that has passed and what we weāve been shown over the years (until the past 12 months when it all suspiciously stopped), I think itāll way under deliver.
Hereās ya roadmap!

I know itās not āthe pveā, but still. It is a part of the new stuff coming out and I wish it was more meaningful than all the previous little pve missions or gamemodes we had so farā¦ itās still uncertain what itās really gonna be but If I had to hold on to my expectations, Itās nof looking good.
Really makes you wonder where all the money is going since it clearly isnāt going to hiring more game developers
Money laundering.
Right, but itās still unfair to judge the PVE based on Starwatch. Like I said Starwatch is not the PVE, nor is it representative of what the PVE supposedly will be.
Well so what have they been doing all years long?
I donāt know. Thatās the million dollar question. Theyāve reportedly been āworkingā on the PvE since like 2017/2018. They announced the PvE 4 years ago. Theyāve shown us very little. When asked about it, they provide non-answers and no specifics, pushing queries about the mode away promising answers at a later date. Doesnāt that seem a little weird to you? That they literally have NOTHING in enough of a near ready state to show us after ALL this time?
The guy who was spearheading the PvE is long gone, and Iām afraid that maybe those that remain just donāt have the same vision for PvE that Kaplan had. Theyāre more focused on the PvP.
Thereās 2 ways this can go. Weāre either gonna get an incredible PvE experience, deep and grand like what we saw of the few bits theyāve shown us. Or weāre gonna get a massively scaled down version of that. And I feel like if it was the former, theyād be more excited and proud and more willing to show us what they have. But instead they seem to be shying away from any talk of PvE at all. Almost like they know itās just not gonna meet expectations.
I hope Iām wrong because as a PvE enthusiast this sequel was very much something I was looking forward to. But I just canāt shake the feeling that something weird is going on.
Iāve got my expectations lower.
