Most likely. Unfortunately this event doesn’t help the smaller streamers who are trying to grow. I’m on Fran’s stream at the moment mainly because I don’t wish to watch Seagull’s stream for my own reasons 
, so I’m not among the 100k viewers he has.

Now that I think about it, with how Seagull’s stream is popping today, all he needs to do is to get Drake to play Overwatch with him and then Overwatch will finally reach its former levels of popularity again!

he’s admitted multiple times over the stream that his previous highest best was 48,000 when he was doing the contenders matches to get into OWL.
It’s because of the Nuka Cola challenge. If you watch different streams throughout the week you’ll unlock in-game sprays. Today is Seagull’s stream, tomorrow will be a different stream, etc. This helps to highlight OW streamers, OW as a game and also incentivizes new players fresh off the free weekend to get connected on Twitch (probably in anticipation of future OWL broadcasts).
Regardless of it’s popularity, gameplay, or the fanbase… I’m happy for Fortnite and their success. The game was on the verge of death when it rolled the dice with Battle Royale. Not only do they update and balance often, they designed it so that as long as you only bought the pass once, you can get all the other pass basically for free if you keep playing. I personally hope for their continued success. They are very deserving of it.

They tried with Pink Mercy streams, but people complained. Again, they could focus on tank mais but nah.
i mean, you are also asking these small streamers to handle these huge crowds, and to play for hours on end, when they are just starting out, some many handle it, but not all. also they want to give it to people that they know, wont accidently say something that would get blizzard in trouble for sponsering them

The common complaint I recall seeing was when a few streamers unfortunately had ‘Overwatch’ as their game but it wasn’t Overwatch. I particularly remember a JP streamer, or at least I think it was JP streamer, doing this.
Understandable, but they probably didn’t even ask or offer the opportunity to smaller streamers. It’s the smaller streamers who will likely suffer throughout this event because of less viewers for their streams

I’m pretty sure all the streamers will have drops enabled for the entire two weeks. The focus just shifts
Yeah, I’m watching Fran’s stream at the moment and I’ve had drops. I was watching another earlier also participating. You don’t have to watch the streamer at the right date and time, just as long as they are playing Overwatch, have drops enabled and it’s during the event.
What is more unbelievable than his 100k view count is that he’s playing Tracer and Widow, and is pretty damn good at both.

possibly, but at the same time, the streamers at the end of their time, cna send their chats to other people, and those who are actually interested would go, thus those who only their for skins who dont care anyway arent forced to do anything, besides being entertained
