Hide and rez wasn’t the best strat.
it was more times then not better to stay with the team and do tempo rezs.
also mass rez was an ult so it was stuck on a 30 second cooldown like current rez on e is.
heck hide and rez is the only way to get rez off now because your completely immobile while casting it.
this rework has failed to fix the issue.

Another example… People ranted about Dive meta for 4 seasons and I didn’t see a team play Dive in all that time despite that I main D.Va
the uninformed…
rez is not broken.
on a 30sec cd yes its annoying and (as a mercy main myself) unrewarding. (it is equal to an ult in power…it should stay a s an ult)
valk is a bigger issue.
it started the “hard to hit” complaints.
it started her being hated by other supports “she heals more but is ez to use” - some ana main
and and boosting Mercy’s already good healing to be group wide ehal…yeah thats not gonna be OP or anything

Honey, they fixed that. And, it was such a rare occurence since Rez only had a 10 metre (may have been 15, don’t quote me on this) radius. You just saw the times that it worked because no-one cares about the 100 other times it doesn’t work.
If anything, Mercy’s are encouraged to hide to get their rez off even more now. It’s not a hard achievement though considering Mercy 2.0. didn’t encourage Hide n’ rez. The SR system did.
People would have been happy to see Mercy deleted from the game. People hated playing against her because it meant that they actually had to put thought into using their ultimate. Of course people would make threads talking about Hide n’ Rez. The more people complained, the bigger of an issue Hide n’ Rez looked. The bigger of an issue it looked, the higher the chance that Blizzard would fix it. In reality, only bad Mercy players and people who wanted to inflate their rank used Hide n’ Rez. Tempo rezzing was much stronger.
Not to mention, people don’t care about a Mercy tempo rezzing. Why? Because it’s boring. It’s much more fun to complain about something.

You want to see a broken mercy then you need to see what she was like immediately after her rework. That was sheer hell to play.

think about it
ability rez she has now is FREE every 30 seconds
As an ULT that you had to EARN ,tempo rez was already a thing and could be good depending on timing. BUT if mercy messed rez up it would take 1 or 2 minutes depending on the flow of battle before she got it back.
Single rez as ability, for free every 30 secs n is MUCH stronger then massrez.
the proof is that mercy was not meta as old mercy
she was used a lot,but not meta. Meta was lucio and ana.
Mercy was so weak they buffed her with invulnerability because she always died during rez,it was a common joke.
Invulnerability tho is what spawned hide and rez tactic. Invulnerability should never have happened.
Damage reduction at most
LOS and small cast time.
A rework was not needed

yup damage reductionand a few other tweaks would have saved us the rework and all these headaches

I was more so talking about people who ask for a full revert. And alternatively, can’t single target Rez be adjusted? Seems to me like if Rez were simply locked behind Valk, it would be balanced (and possibly cast time removed if necessary).
sorry to correct you but in in GM mercy was the 3rd picked support and lucio and zen were picked more.
however from bronze to masters mercy was highest picked support ever since mercy got her invulnerability buff.
in essence 99% of the community had to deal with hide strategy not so much GM players. it was after so many mercy players got boosted up to gm were gm players started to experience it too.
I think the issue would be that a lot of people still doesn’t like Valk. It really doesn’t do a good job at making you feel like an important part of the team, and it really is pretty boring. Some people compare it to Molten Core, but at least there I get the satisfaction of kills… with Mercy you kinda just hang and move a bit in the air, the split beams take away most of the thought process anyway. Just have it on boost and switch to healing is someone is low.
Yup essentially Blizz caused the issue in the first place by adding invulnerability to rez and, rather than just remove the broken mechanic or tweak it a little, they went Super Saiyan and gave us moth meta.
oof that buff was added in march 2017 and her rework was in september 2017
Yes, but if you had to pop it in order to Rez, would that not make it feel 100 times more impactful and important?
It would just be playing it for rez again, and the devs said they don’t want that for Valk.
Really? Felt shorter than that. Time flies eh?
I think it was announced earlier than Sept… but it would still be a few months in between.
…when did they ever say that? Can you link me to that? I don’t remember that at all.
I’m pretty sure they said it when they nerfed her in February, I’ll see if I can find it (might take a while though)
This part pretty much agrees with what Rosal was saying.
Apparently, it wasn’t a problem until GM players had to deal with it.
It encouraged a way of playing Blizzard didnt like or intend for. Hiding around the corner the whole round is lame as hell and not engaging.
I totally agree with their decision. People who are saying they never saw it are straight up LYING.
