Mainly 5dps comps. One-tricks aren’t a problem unless they are being countered and don’t know how to play around their counter. How is role que supposed to fix someone’s choice of hero selection? Mostly on the forums which is nerly 80% toxicity anyway.
Because of whiny support and tank players that think they are doing god’s work for playing a role.
It was mostly supposed to fix balance problems due to role stacking and new hero introduction.

Solo tanking and supporting. That is basically it. Oh, and role based SR. Allegedly easier balance… But see the latest patch to refute that.
They are doing it because GOATS was bad for OWL.
Because support and tank players wanted to play games without 4-5 DPS players making up the rest of the team.

Bad team comps were the biggest factor to losing games and toxicity, that’s why. But that doesn’t mean you won’t lose any games now, or won’t experience any toxicity. Think of 2/2/2 as being a vaccine, not a cure.
It was meant to give roleSR and make the games closer.
It worked.
To stop 3 dps. Every game I played had 3 dps refusing to switch… it got to the point where I stopped playing as much. Now I will play more.
And those 4 or 5 players don’t owe you anything. Which just proves how entitled a lot of support and tank players are.
And those 4-5 DPS players can still play their role, just like I can play mine, on better-balanced teams. I think they call that a “win-win”.
Or team oriented players that want balanced and more structured games so the experience is better for every1

Role Queue is about order and giving the players choice.
Matches are less decided by random coin flip hoping you get a balanced team. You know your team is performing their role at an appropriate skill level.
Role queue is ultimately about order and giving overall better quality matches and giving the player choice on what they want to play.
DPS can now play knowing no one will bother them to swap.
Tank and Healers know they can play healers and knowing they won’t have to shoulder the whole team alone.
Also it has other perks like role sr.
The only real trade off is for true flex players (those that actually can play multiple roles at the same level, not those that fill even tho their tank/healer is one or to ranks lower).
The rest is only overly paranoid specific scenarios or outright lies.

Yeah, unfortunately. But this might actually be better, with the self correcting from RoleBasedSR, and RoleBasedMMR.
Those other 3 players don’t magically turn into tanks or healers. Now they’re just stuck in the queue or soft throwing on other roles.
