So what happens next to Ana or Soj?

With hero bans approaching, clearly these two are going to be banned from Champion to Bronze until the end of the game’s life, so what happens to them?

Does team 4 finally bend the knee and trash Ana to hell where she belongs? Does Sojourn end up becoming a worse 76…? What happens next for these two heroes?

I doubt Ana will get banned that much tbh only tank players are gonna be voting for her

We’ll see and I’ll bet you’re wrong

I guess we will. I see lower ranks targeting heroes like Sombra/Widow/Moira/Mercy more than her, and while high ranks might target her they also like when she’s meta and would rather have her/juno in their games than other supps lol

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to play them when Zarya and Doomfist are the ones banned instead.

Probably not Ana so much at the upper ranks. We don’t find her that problematic.

Brig and Kiri, though? Those two will probably will see more bans.

However, I can see Soj being banned quite a bit.

Yeah I imagine high ranks will ban Brig more no?

But in mid ranks where I’m at I’m anticipating Zarya/Sojourn/Ana bans mostly.

With a bit Doom/Ball/Widow/Mercy (out of spite or something lol)

But the meta might change and they might prenerf those heroes/perks as the bans are launched.

Everyone who wants to play a balanced support hero has incentive to ban her as well

I’m thinking the popular picks for all ranks are gonna be Ashe, Sojourn, Sombra, Widow, and Ana

Lower ranks will probably have Mercy, Moira, Mauga, and Zarya more often, while higher ranks will have specifically meta characters more often.

People are more likely to go after what’s both good and irritating than what’s strictly good I think. The just annoying group will be the least picked.

I’m a Plat Support main (LW/Brig/Juno) and she would be #1 on my banlist if I didn’t feel the need to get Mauga out of the way first before deleting her

I suspect the bans will just keep shifting around, because there will always be a group that will dislike playing with or against whomever they end with. Some other toon will just rise to the top of the most annoying list.

“Ana, and Mercy were banned, but why did our Supports pick Zen and Lucio?! It’s their fault we lost. They should have gone (x) instead.”

Eh, she’s the most popular hero in the game, not even just amongst supports, so most supp players probs won’t be banning her either

Nah, it’ll def be a 3 to 2 (6 to 4 for both sides) vote. She can easily 1v1 every DPS hero and can 1v1 some tanks as well.

I don’t see anybody not voting for her, if anything with how toxic this game is, DPS mains will use this as an excuse to get that precious Mercy pocket we desire with Kiriko being the new heavyweight of the support roster.

I can’t wait. Support mains better learn how to left click, right click and guardian angel

What makes you think Mercy will be played if Ana is banned? Makes absolutely no sense. You won’t get a Mercy pocket, what you’ll get is a harmony orb and a dose of learn to play the game with minimum healing. Did you think bans are going to force a certain hero to be played? That’s not how it works.

If Ana becomes a meta ban pick, then Ana players will need to come to the table with ideas for ways to change her if they want her to be playable again.

IMO the ensuing Hog/Mauga meta might ensure that Ana isn’t banned though.

self nano needs a huge nerf

Ana doesn’t need trashed, nor should she be trashed. She needs a rework. Having the 2 strongest anti-tank (anti-push) abilities on 1 hero was always a mistake. When they can be so effectively combined with sleep then nade, it was even more obvious to just about any amateur game player that this was stupid and would be miserable for tanks.

It may have been acceptable in 6v6 where the 2nd tank is expected to help their buddy, but in 5v5 it’s a joke if they actually do want more people to play tank.

Even if they split her abilities across 2 heroes it would be better, although nade would still be a problem.

Nothing, once bans come in the devs will care very little about balancing heroes. They’ll keep certain heroes op because hey if the players can ban them why bother balancing them? There will just be a big bucket of perma banned heroes that won’t get balanced or reworked. Quickplay will probably have an even larger spike in players after bans come in.

I dunno. I had thought the same thing, but there’s a character in the other game that has a high ban rate because his gameplan is to kidnap and shred tanks. So I can see a team going along with a tank’s wishes over here, too.

On the other hand, Ana keeps characters like Hog and Mauga at bay while in the other game, there was only one tank that seemed to get banned regularly - and he was nerfed in the mid-season patch so his ban rate’s seemed to drop like a rock since. Tanks might not be beloved over there but they seem to be tolerated, while over here there are some really hated tank characters.

And maybe RQ versus OQ will play a difference? In an OQ world, a would-be tank can switch off the role entirely, which gives him a card to play.

We’ll probably only have anecdotal evidence to work off, sadly, but it’ll be interesting to see which way it ends up going.
