To clarify, they announce the week 5 hero bans tomorrow night in the Watchpoint Post Show. The matches tomorrow play with the full hero roster.

I honestly REALLY hope it’s Rein. Because if Rein is banned, dive WILL become meta. And the last time dive was meta was the ice age.

There will be bans in every role though iirc DPS gets 2 and the others get 1, and it can be any hero with play time above 10%.

It will likely be McCree and Mei and then either Rein or Dva and Ana or Lucio. It could also be Reaper depending on how often he’s played today.

Tanks: Either Rein or Dva. Rein is the popular choice to ban on forums, but remember, they’re going to likely listen to the pro players about who to ban (not forum posters), and they might argue for a Dva ban. Could be Rein that they argue to ban though.

DPS: Mei almost 100%. Probably McCree as well

Support: I think it’d be Lucio. I don’t think it’ll be Ana, because I don’t think flex players in OWL want to run the risk of having to play Moira.

I think the sensible thing to do is to ban the most used heroes. The point of hero bans is to shake up the meta, if they don’t ban those heroes then… nothing changes like, why ban Junkrat or Soldier when they are not even played, same for tank and support roles. As a McCree main I love watching him being played but if we want to shake the meta he needs to get banned, same with Mei.

You don’t need to ban all of them to change the meta though. Like you don’t need to ban both Lucio and Rein.

Why would genji be banned? his pickrate is nowhere near Mei or Mccree.

I’m genuinely scared about how Rein bans will just make people refuse to play Main Tank.

If the first week starts with Mei being banned, you’ll see more mobile comps which counter Rein.

If they stick true to their claim of “targeting the meta” then they should ban Rein, McCree, Mei and Ana. But I have a feeling only 2 of those will get banned because it’s not about what they claim it is but more mob rule.
