Unfortunately, NetEase and Blizzard have lost their partnership, meaning Overwatch 2 is shut down in Mainland China for the forseeable future.
- Just me that feels a small amount of irony in this? All of the pandering to the shareholders didn’t pay off, eh?
Edit: Just noticed that this was announced on Lunar New Year. Bit of an L there ngl

China is a risky country to pander to anyways. Besides, they are just a few bad economic slip-ups from turning into Russia 2.0. Basically an authoritarian country goes through horrible time period, then a strongman like Putin takes power while country recovers. The population will tolerate the Putin-esque strongman because they do not want to risk ever falling back into that very dark era.

Honestly used to think pretty highly of China, ever since Xi Jinping started steering the country into 1984 territory starting back in 2013 been more and more worried. Unforunately he appointed himself leader for life after changing the constitution to allow him to, and he’s literally become the worst leader for China since Mao. Its sad what’s happened.

China used to be technocratic before 2013 which had its own set of problems, such as corrupt local officials purposely skewing data to fulfill the CCP’s standards.
They still do that. Democratic countries leaders would do it too if they could get away with it, literally no reason to say anything beyond how well you did, thing is in a europe and the US they have oversight so you can’t lie, in China if you say they are lieing, you get thrown in prison lol.

Because they are forced to tolerate it. Their daily routines are scheduled by the government basically.
