Found the quote:
Not sure exactly where it came up in the talk today.
But at least now I got a design direction to work with.
- “They’re avoiding buffing support’s damage to prevent them from “turning in DPS heroes with healing” and will prefer to buff their movment/survivability”

“Avoiding buffing supports damage to prevent them from turning into DPS heroes”
Huh, didn’t stop them from doing that with tanks

Good to know they’re being sensible about the support role.
I haven’t had anything nice to say about overwatch devs (aside from this month) since 2017.

i find it funny they would buff junkerqueen, shes one of the top dps tanks rn, i actually been switching to her to secure wins. also funny they say sojourn underperforms below masters ranks, which they def do, but thats why i pick junkerqueen to make up for it.
To be fair if they had gone DPS with healing moving 76 to Support with a few buffs to his field would’ve been written on the wall.
Seemed kinda obvious that they weren’t interested in doing that (DPS + Heals) based on the buffs (“buffs” in some cases) they gave the pre OW2 Support roster. Most were targeted at upping survival, even the role passive is all about allowing supports more time on the field/near or in the action.

So true lmao! Tanks are just more fun and chonk dps now.

That’s interesting, but I’m interested in how will they make that so it doesn’t make Moira and Lucio inferior
Like imagine how much better support is gonna be if the others get the speed or fade that Lucio/Moira have, we already have Kiriko able to teleport through walls and be invincible for a brief moment after too

Nothing about Zarya?
Im not sure whether to be happy or sad.

dont forget, 60k posts, ka-BOOM
So… minor tweaks to Mercy. So… they’re actively not taking the easiest and fastest way to fix queue times. Why am I not surprised?

Well, I think with the Sombra changes coming, a lot of Mercy players will be happy.
I have been playing a lot of Mercy in OW2 and the only time I felt unplayable as her was when a decent sombra was on the enemy team. Apart from that I’ve mostly played Mercy in OW2 unless this situation happens which forces me to change to Moira or Kiriko.

LOL I TOLD U SHILL BOTS!!! Buff inc
Even worse is how they forget zenyatta exists,
Who is essentially a damage hero with some healing…

That’s not even remotely the issue with Mercy. Her issue is still that too little of her power is in her control. Has been that way for years.

Did you see the blog post where they talked about Kiriko damage? they said this about her:
and her damage output right now is about even with Ana which is relatively low compared to heroes like Lucio, Moira, and Brigitte
No mention of Zen, but they bring up Lucio, Moira and Brigitte? as damage supports, when Zenyatta I think can out damage the 3 of them
LOL
they def forgot he exists LOL thats twice now in a few weeks

Maybe they’ll get passive move speed, since it will give them more options to flee and whatnot.
them looking at Medic from Team Fortress 2 for more ideas

Your very correct, but by giving her that control they have to take from somewhere else, which ultimately domimos into a rework…
The people who actually enjoy playing her, would be quite upset, as it woukd result in much of her appeal to them being lost

Yeah this game needs more supports.
I just played a QP and we never got a second support. Someone quit before the match and not even backfill could find us a support.
Literally 4v5 the entire game.

If we buff support’s damage, tanks will start melting so I guess it makes sense to not buff support’s damage. But then again, we could also nerf tank’s overall damage and give supports the damage buff instead.
There’s so many ways one could balance this game and in the end, it’s up to the devs and how they view the game should be played.
