So, Sensitivity

I feel super confused when it comes to sensitivity. It seems like a lot of pros think it’s the devil, and all of my friends keep telling me that I should lower it. So I do, but I suddenly start doing horrible. I even took a whole month to practice with the new sens, and it just didn’t work. Though when I raise it, I start to do a bit better. What the heck?

I recommend growing some thicker skin…

On a more serious note just use whatever sensitivity feels best for you.

What’s your sensitivity?

On Junkrat I think mine’s at 60.
Everyone else I think around 50.
I suck at hitscan.

The heck? Mine’s at 5 max…

50? My sensitivity is straight 1 x 3200dpi = 3200dpi

Even if we guess that you play on 400dpi it results in 24000 dpi lol
Unless you do heart surgeries for live, I dont think you can be good with hitscan with your 24000dpi

You should use low sensitivity, but something above the average of proplayers because they use XL mousepads to aim. You probably have an average mousepad and use your wrist to aim more than your arm so you should have higher sensitivity than them. Try something like 1600/6 if you have something like 800/5

The other day I did a comparison and mine appears to be on low side (Cause im old school CS and Quake player) compared to OW pros. They usually sit around 4000 or higher. Which I recommend for anyone

3.22 sens and 1400 dpi… Though I have my relative scope set to 38.72. I’m mostly wondering about Widow.

Fact: The lower your sensitivity the greater precision that is possible with arm movements.

Fact: You do not need low sensitivity to be good at gaming.

Look, there is a measurable physical advantage to using low sensitivity. Larger arm movements provide a greater margin for error. Having said that, none of that matters if it is uncomfortable. Finding the right sensitivity for you is probably the most important thing you can do to improve in a fps.

The lower the better as a general rule, but there is most definitely a point where you not only reach diminishing returns, but you start to hurt your own performance.

The general concept about sensitivity in first person shooters, is that most players will want to lower the sensitivity requiring them to move their arm at greater distances in order to reach their target. Which then allows you to make small adjustments to make more accurate aim.

This is not true of all professional players however, New York Excelsior’s his scan specialist Pine, has a relatively high sensitivity. How he aims is beyond me.

I trained myself to have a lower sensitivity, however this requires several weeks of small adjustments slowly but surely lowering my sensitivity by small percentages at a time.

Fun fact: Jeff Kaplan’s sensitivity is the default setting on Overwatch.

More important than low sensitivity is getting rid of pixel skipping. This is achieved without changing the effective sensitivity whatsoever, but by reducing the scaling overwatch does to your mouse DPI while maintaining the effective sensitivity you’re accustomed to. Overwatch sens is just a multiplication of your mouse DPI. So let’s say you’re at 50 sensitivity in Overwatch and I don’t know, 100 DPI on your mouse. This is a dumb number I pulled out my butt, but go with it. 50 x 100 = 5000. That’s your effective sensitivity. At that point you’re better off raising your mouse DPI. So you can keep your 5000 feeling, you can either go with 1 sens x 5000 DPI, or 2 sens x 2500. Or something along those lines.

What this does is it eliminates pixel skipping, artifacts or corruption of the data more or less because of you taking a very low resolution DPI and blowing it up too high.

I’m not explaining it well, but basically this site lets you calculate whether your sens/dpi is creating pixel skipping or not. Keep raising DPI and lowering sens to arrive at the same effective sens you like while using the lowest possible in game sens (multiplier).

I only click on these threads to find that guy that posts their insane sensitivity. Assuming 400 DPI you can do a 360 by moving your mouse 7 cm, I saw lower on the last thread. Honestly if 7cm/360 works for you then that’s what you should use.

I play with 1800 dpi and sens 10 on McCree. I anchor my wrist.

You know how much I like facts. :eyes:
That’s good to know, though. I just can’t aim very well with low sens, even though I have this ridiculously large mouse pad…

lol good luck in bronze/silver

That’s… Quite a bit higher than my own. Are you sure…?
I used to play with 4 sens and 1400 dpi, but a coach recommended that I lower it. So I did, and I’m at 3.22 sens now. ^^"

Guys, it’s a console.

In general lower sensitivity is better as it allows for easier control.

However you do just need to find what works best for you.

I have seen some games where a player looks like they are literally on crack…but hey it works for them…

If you aren’t planning on going pro, just do whatever works best for you.

If you’re planning on going pro, or even semi pro, or even just hardcore playing for hours upon hours every day of the week… lower sens will make you less prone to wrist injuries.
