Just asking for a friend
Not sure about OP but his ultimate is really frustrating and easy to get value out of. I don’t think he does too much for too little effort though outside of that.
I think I just get bugged with some of his cool downs relative to his tank counterpart cool downs when I face him.
Ram as a whole is fine imo. His Ult however could use a small rework.
He’s so well balanced… until he pops his ult. It’s a literal “I win” button if you’re:
- In Overtime
- Playing with competent supports
And just give up if both of those things are true.
I think it would be GREAT if he lost that speed boost when he ults.
The issue is thats its auto lock on in a big AoE area. There should be a skill component to it.
Tank Ults should be more similar to earthshatter. Extremely powerful when used correctly, but can be wasted when not used in the right circumstances.
honestly he is OP as heck but nothing will be done about it but it feels good to kill a rammattra especially when they are using ultimate
ram as a whole is just braindead
The only problem I ever have with him is his ultimate. It’ll be the middle of a team fight, everyone’s near him and suddenly, “Digital dancing!” and everybody suffers as he has.
Kinda.
He is the most balanced of all tanks. He does have some downsides.
His shield is among the least impactful of all available tank shields, even Winston’s 360 bubble can deny dps more reliably.
He can poke, but its a projectile beam that slows his movement.
His Nemesis form is bulky and deadly, but lacks range and its rather hard leading punches onto a strafing target due to delay and projectile based attacks. Its also a great panic button, but using it for anything other than offense results in a low value.
Vortex is useful, but its not difficult to run away from, then the timing to even use it properly is difficult as it starts as a deployable projectile then bursts into its effect. Using this wrong can result in a lot of targets getting away scott free.
Block is useful for turtling and is infinite, but it slows Ram’s speed a lot and only blocks damage in the front while leaving him unable to act.
Annihilation seems devastating, but its moreso used to casue chaos and not really rack up kills. It is just an intimidating spacial effect. What is killing you is the nemesis form and the fact he becomes more tanky in his ultimate form. If he cannot get his punches off the duration is much shorter and there is a lot less dps. The tendrils from the aura he exudes is really jsust minimal dps. You should still run from it, but its predictable and Ram can still get demolished through it all.
Overall he’s a Jack of all trades. A good player can easily make Ram get out of control with proper positioning and control. They have many available options for various situations, to counter him is actually very simple.
Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each form and act accordingly.
Nemesis wants to be close to enemies, so just run and poke at a distance. Flanks will still chunk him better than from the front. He gets significantly bigger so he is easier to hit. Remember he can two tap people through his punches so be aware of his voicelines of when he does activate Nemesis, Ram is rather very loud when he does it. So peek firing works a lot here.
In his normal form he is a bit smaller making for a bit more difficultly in shooting him. But he loses all armor when he changes back which is a great time to ensure to get some meaningful dps on him. This is when you want to hit him hard as that projectile beam staff is rather hard to control especially up close. Close the gap and punish an overaggressive Ram. This form he can be somewhat threatening from afar as that beam has no falloff range for a beam, but the projectiles still require travel distance so you can dodge it pretty easily unless they are adept at Ram’s staff gun.
Both forms can still utilize vortex, so you don’t want to just have your mobility skill ready, you want to get a good off angle and ensure you havr some cover close by before engaging so you can break LOS if he does pop Nemesis form. Use mobility sparingly and wait for the vortex to come out before using it.
His shield is something that is easily shot down or ignored. Its moreos used to prevent chip poke dps on him and his team.
Even through all of this flexible planning Ram is still on the slow side for tanks so getting into backline will hurt him a lot.
Until the playerbase starts slotting for tank, Tanks will be stronger to appeal in hopes of getting a decent majority of players.
