I never said they were. But as people within the company tweeted their own CEO muddled the game development cycle making them have to do his bad ideas that didn’t go over well in the long run.
Also way back after the game launched making record profits from lootboxes the higher ups laid off a lot of team 4s staff that made the game a bit to give shareholders more bang for their investment buck.
There was a lot of bad mismanagement all across the Activision-Blizzard domain. Lol it of their talent have left to now make their own company and games as their unintentional competition.
The current team has made the best of a bad situation with a the turnover and changes of direction of what Ow 2 was originally supposed to be.
Or to put it simply what they wanted these guys to work on for OW 2 and the eSport, they didn’t give them enough resources.
The drop in the numbers, rise in complaints, and their own constant changes reflect this. As this was not how things ran back in the day of OW 1 (crazy that ow 1 been out so long it fits a back in the day reference)
Yes, yes - we all know all this. I won’t disagree that OW as an IP under Blizz was horribly mismanaged, but the delays aren’t from layoffs (most devs were re-tasked to other projects as that is the model for box-release).
They were stuck in an old model because management was behind the curve in today’s world.
Didn’t you watch the last dev update? They said that they will be separating PvP and PvE release. PvE could be a paid expansion that will be released next year. (my take)
Yea this. Pvp is coming sooner then the pve. Since pvp is going to be free anyway. The beta was testing pvp… because that’s what’s going to come first.
And heroes wise, there may be more. There may not be. Ana was released a short while after the overwatch release for example. They may do the same with new heroes. If it matches live overwatch we may see heroes every 4 months or so.
OW 1 was dying because of poor management and bad design decisions; OW 2 with F2P under MS is the absolute best chance it has for a true revival. OW 2 came about because of wrong belief that box-release games were still competitive in the market, they are not. I noticed the OW 2 event detail specifically made mention of live-service, they know they need to succeed under MS in the near future.
They haven’t canceled it. The pve was what was holding up ow 2 release. Pvp changes weren’t stopping it. But pvp you have to decide hero’s baseline kits. And what extra stuff will go into pve talents.
Well it’s not like other gaming companies are doing that much better. I can hardly think of any other games that I want to be playing right now aside from OW2. Valorant got me hooked for a while but that’s about it.
MOBA like League of Legend sucks, Battle Royale genre sucks (or the games at least), RTS is dead, Arena FPS is dead, and OW2 is the only game that comes closest bringing that joy that I used to get from PC games. Actually, most of the PC games that I loved were from Blizzard. The rest of the great games came from consoles like Tekken.
