I am criticizing the entire notion that Genji is fine because he is countered by 2+ vs 1, specially since other heroes very much dont need 2v1s to deal with them.

Genji gets into more 1v2 situations than other heroes except similar type, like Tracer and Sombra.

Itā€™s usually not a 1v2 if you play someone like Soldier or any other support unless you decide to be a flanker.

if you cant beat him 1 on 1ā€¦ not sure what to tell you. Try Mei, Moira, Zarya, Sym. There are plenty of characters that can 1 v 1. Its still a team game.

Both of which are much easier to deal. Tracer literally got nerfed compared to OW1 for this very same issue, and Sombra is considerably easier to scare off completely.

Genji? He has so much more vertical mobility and easier spammy damage in M2 that he doesnt need need to get that close in the first place. Farming dragonblade with him borders on trivial, its how I have been climbing out of gold right now because its absurdly easy compared to what I have to do on Sym to do more damage than Kiriko :skull:

If I turn back to scare him off as Zarya my team instantly loses the fight because there is no frontline.

Sym and her piddly 60dps beam gets absolutely plastered by Genji. Its one of his easier match-ups right now because there is literally nothing Sym can do unless I go afk.

Mei and Moira are fine. But thats 2 heroes only compared to other heroes that have half a dozen counters at least, or get countered by every single DPS at most (lol Sym).

Thing is, I donā€™t even really need to kill him.

If I can at least force him to reengage Iā€™d call that a win, or buy enough time for his target to escape.

Who can force him to run off right now, at least at a 50% consistency per engagement? You canā€™t expect to win every time of course.

For support itā€™s Moira?

Keep in mind itā€™s the genji who is going to pick the engagement rangeā€¦

you dont need hard CC to pose a threat.

one of the best things you can do to help your team against a genji, generally, is to peel him off people with boops. and last i remember brig has two of those, she can also heal up the person genji is diving.

countering a hero has never been simply about killing them, sometimes all you have to do is prevent them from getting kills.

that being said hes very easy to kill and people need too stop making excuses and just kill him lol

Yeah, Genji can generally still be dealt with in OW2 - itā€™s just harder because people in lower levels of pub play are less likely to work as a team with how the game now operates. Hence backliners struggling with being cornered and killed with no peel.

tbf you dont even need to work as a team.

1 person can ruin genjiā€™s day. a hitscan that keeps dmg up on him so he doesnt feel safe, a hero booping or slowing him when he dives on to someone. a defensive skill being pushed on to his targets or them simply being healed.

anyone one of these things ruins his time because genji isnt consistent in terms of dmg.

Nawww man. Support have a really hard time handling a skilled Genji player. There are mechanics to deal with him if heā€™s focusing you down - but you have to be REALLY quick and REALLY accurate.

genji is overtuned as duck.

but gawd does it feel sweet to spank his cyborg butt as kiriko and hear say come on shimmada and various insults.

in support moira is still best to deal with genji but if you want to do it with style go kiriko

Haha. Dinking a genji with a crit shot with kunai and watching his body fall to the ground is VERY satisfying. Just a very rare event. :frowning:

Against a mobile hero you do.

Specially Genji, who isnt going to commit a dive unless he has his ultimate, for which Brig can not outheal at all.

Thats ultimately the thing people ignore. Genji isnt going to get close to the enemy backline unless its for a dash kill, which enables him to instantly escape, or with his ultimate, which means that without CC its trivially easy to dash, slash, reset and do it again.

I am the Genji.

And the only heroes that right now pose a threat to him are Sojourn, Moira and Mei.
