In which role?

Tank: Zarya, maybe Winston

DPS: Junkrat, Torb, Mei, I’d also add Symmetra if she didn’t suck so much right now.

Healer: Brig, Moira, Kiriko if you feel you’re more skilled than the Genji, just don’t ego pick her.

He is hard to deal with as most characters will at best be neutral to him so long as he gets to pick the engagement.

Lack of CC gives him a much wider range of engagement choice (and escape if it goes south) so he is a menace right now.

Pick a character that can burst him down very quickly and hit your shots after you bait out his deflect. That’s about it.

My strat with Kiriko was shifting out of there when Genji dived me, ping him, and them chase him with whoever turned to see were I ping. It worked most of the times.

Tanks have their hands busy being the only frontline. If a tank has to turn back to babysit their supports they just gave up the entire fight.

None of those counter him, and 3 of the heroes here suck, specially Junkrat and Sym. Mei is decent to maaaaybe good if you stretch it but she is still not enough.

Moira maybe, but Brig is kind of a joke against Genji because she poses a nonthreat to a decent Genji.

Brigg has to what, melee twice, shield bash, then rocket flail to ko genji? And thats a counter XD

Brig can’t stop him in the same way she used to and Genji doesn’t have to interact with her.

Moira is a skill check for Genji.

Kiriko is so insanely unfavored vs Genji. You have to be like 4x as good as Genji to reliably win that 1v1.

Ana and Baptiste do way better than these 3 because they’re not limited by range, plus anti and immo can cause him to get caught out really easily.

Unless you’ve got a beam, you can’t, pretty much, since stuns don’t exist anymore.

Genji can literally kill her other support in the time it takes to hit this. Without her stun, Brig has no way to stop Genji before he kills her or someone else.

Moira is 10 times better at it because she has the range, the mobility and anti-cheese damage to outduel and threaten a Genji.

 Mei. Because Zarya is going to be busy being the only tank, Sym sucks, and an Echo that is babysitting her supports is wasted.

if he doesn’t have a hard pocket, you can pretty easily mark him and force duels with tracer to stop him from giving your team trouble. it’s always been a pretty even and skill based matchup, but genji favors verticality and tracer favors horizontal chase so it’s map dependant and whether or not you can stage on highground will matter a lot in those cases.

it’s a bit like how tracer v doom worked on ow1, even if you couldn’t kill him you could almost completely shut him down and force the tempo in your favor if you’re both left to your own devices

I’d like to add Orisa to this list. Javelin, shoot when he deflects you activate your Jav Spin and stay on top of him. Enough damage to kill him usually.

I was thinking about how that matchup would work.

Can’t he just double jump away from (or over) her?

At best she can deter and force an engagement reset, but how can she secure a kill?

A ‘neutral’ pick vs him I should think.

They need to hard nerf this horribly overtuned hero either a hard slap 150 hp nerf or they have to start messing with his kit.

bait deflect, shoot when its on cd while dodging and blinking behind him. if the dash hits you, recall. if you blink through it you should win.

Seems like Mei and Zarya are the most reliable “counters.” However, it’s more of a soft counter. There’s not really a good way of dealing with him without any CC.

Also, pray to God that he doesn’t have a pocket.
