You would think at Blizzcon they would announce or even talk about what is next for the pve…They might as well remove the current pve in the game.
They might just go back to giving us PvE events to fill the space. That would be nice.
You’d think, yeah. If there’s nothing tomorrow then I’m just gonna assume it’s season 12 and they’re committing to a once-a-year schedule.
let it die. PUMP THE PVP
Would make more sense to announce pve stuff at blizzcon, since that is where OW2’s announcement began and pve was the whole point of OW2
unfortunately it might be a yearly thing. or maybe when they “feel” like it. seems like the pve was short lived a bit since everyone stopped playing in a month
I think PVE has never been solvable as a perpetually active mode without treating it like true single player with no need for other players and a standard difficulty.
I recently did a very in-depth analysis about how Overwatch 2 is not at all different from OW1 in terms of experimentation and growth: create events, analyze what works well and try another path again. wrath of the bride, demon lord, starwatch, santuary trials… these are all modes that actually hide a strong PVE / narrative management on how to readjust Overwatch on a narrative or fight level. The fact that the current PVe is not very different from the experimentation experienced with archives only creates annoyance that they have literally blocked the entire game to develop that promise made at Blizzcon 2019. and ok, 5v5 has finally become the new reason… but essentially the failure of season 6’s PVE was the expected request.
The current PVE will NEVER be solvable with the bots and difficulties currently proposed. And I think I understand that in economic terms they can no longer afford to make the same investments and experiments as archives i ow1, since it involves proposing in-game cinematics, voicelines, music, narration, level design etc… as a free access event. And at the same time a story that is not always accessible to everyone when and how they want. And indeed, I say it clearly: sancuary trials confirmed part of my fears that a mode with even the smallest talent / upgrade tree only has slightly higher replayability… but not truly continuous. In fact, it even risks being visually worse.
For me the only remaining possibility is to convert the narrative PVE into a single player, with bots and difficulty managed according to the possibilities of the single player. The cooperative formula is renounced (or left occasional as underworld mode), but at least the marketing sells the various narrative chapters as Starcraft 2 style DLCs. In short, making this department of Overwatch a story campaign that too many people have been waiting for. The only difficult decision is whether they will also want to balance the customization of the bots participating in the single player mission or return to the old formula of standard characters like Gotheborg which only offers 4 heroes.
real possibility is that the story missions didnt sell as well as they had hopped so they may of just scapped it entirely.
i hope not but they didnt even mention the idea of more story missions today which would be a lil alarming
to be fair blizzcon isnt over yet and they said tomorrow they will talk about whats next. not that i have any hope, but at least wait for blizzcon to end before getting angry, but dont expect not getting angry and dissapointed
jeez i wonder why nobody is playing the paid mode with 1 hour of content and no replayability or rewards after cancelling everyhting they anounced for it?
Its cancelled…
They replaced it with 15 dollar PVE maps/mission that takes 3-4 hours.
Huh wonder why? Surely it had nothing to do that they paywalled what its basically an over glorified archives mode
the solution is very simple, turn it into a rougelike horde shooter instead of a shooter Diablo.
The campaign could stay the same, its whatever. But for the heroes mission they need skill tree for each roles instead of for each characters. and then a couple of drastically gameplay changing perks for each heroes can be obtain randomly through out the mission.
It will drastically reduce development time and cost, while also provide the exact same amount of replayability, probably even increase it.
lol 3 hours you say, a call of duty campaign is 3-4 hours, the pve is just 30-40 minutes if you skip cinematics
the event mode of diablo have a… skill tree like abilities oh my god, can you believe it :0, and the game mode is… trash, as always, only kill bots, but the skills make it something more bareable, i was kinda having fun, maybe with some effort anf 4 years to work in the game, which oh surprise, they have, maybe we could have a good story mode, a story at least
I mean they told us before season 6 that the next batch would be a couple seasons away at least. They used the excuse that they wanted to take stock of feedback.
However the first mission was done 4 years prior (though it was reworked the map work was largely the same). Toronto then felt like a huge mission and Goth like a short one. That seemed to be somehow everything they finished in 4 years, which is concerning.
