So much dps diff

Who could have known going free to play would have such dire consequences? Letting every cod and battlefield refuge be a dps with no real tutorial or set of guidelines has worked so well so far. Thank you Blizzard.

lmao games an actual fps now and not a shooting shield simulator.

It’s mostly tank diff they’re raid bosses.

The problem is more than just dps diff between players, but the gulf between the good and bad dps heroes was widened considerably in OW2.

While tank diff certainly exists, most of my games come down to dps diffs.

To be fair, a good chunk of the “DPS diffs” are DPS players who didn’t get enough help from Supports, versus an enemy team with good Supports.

Mostly DPS diffs for me. It normally goes like this:

Me on VC: Use the shield so you don’t die, I’ll call out when I drop it or it goes RIP so you have time to find cover.
DPS: Walks in front of, or outside the sides of the shield. Dies.
Me on VC: I just said you should use the shield until I call out when it’s about to die. You walked straight into a sniper.
DPS: Where the **** are the heals?!?!??! Tank diff
Me on VC: clicks players mute icon sigh’s heavily

Me on VC: Guys can you please stop trickling to the point, group up first-they have the point you’re just staggering and feeding their ults
Said players: Continue to trickle in like lemmings, saying I’m being toxic and that they’re going to make love to my mother.
clicks players mute icon

At the same time though, there is definitely a case for tank diff causing issues for the DPS, and mostly what I see is either a rambo Orissa thinking she can 1v5, or a passive Rein. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been diffed as a tank main on more than one occasion, I don’t mind admitting that. But the faults can apply to both sides. It just depends whether or not they’re prepared to learn from their mistakes instead of blaming others.

Careful Grey. This kind of comment isn’t allowed on the forums…Even if it is right.

Things are hardly ever so simple. You get a bad tank, and the other team will just run you over. You get bad dps, and nobody dies. You get bad supports and you are forced to play hyper defensively and cant confirm kills without considerable risk to yourself.

Diff relevancy

Tank Diff is nigh impossible to overcome
Support Diff is difficult but doable
DPS Diff is least relevant

Unless you’re playing in games where EVERYONE is incompetent.

Hardpocket the feeding tank, ignore the DPS, get great healing numbers.

Must be DPS Diff.

I feel like this:

  • tank diff is almost impossible. You get run over by other tank and there is no stopping him unless rest of his team are pure trolls
  • support diff makes tank diff. If enemy supports are better than yours then enemy tank has massive advantage in tank duels. Everyone had games with some Moira Mercy shenanigans where enemy had good Ana Zen backline and you are anti-naded and discorded whole game. So indirectly supports can throw just as hard as tanks
  • dps diff happens when everything else is relatively balanced. Tanks are fighting each other trying to get some space and dps are playmakers. They kill or distract supports so frontline doesn’t get heal and crumbles upon pressure.

So overall everyone is important, but tanks can throw the most if they are vastly worse than opposition.

You could say that about plenty of diffs in the game. I have gotten Hog diffed just because pulling me into his team was a death sentence and pulling him into my team results in absolutely nothing. I have been Hog diffed because they have cleanse and I do not.

Hard to take personal responsibility when I am the one winning exchanges when supports are not around. That being said, when your team is worse, their supports tend to be around a lot longer than yours. Perhaps that is partially my fault as well, but you know, there is a lot of nuance to the discussion and when I am on DPS even with zero space and no resources, I do not throw as hard as my teammates tend to when I actively play the game as my best hero or heal them consistently.

That is absolutely the case in Hog duels. One guys has Ana Kiriko, the other has Mercy Zen, I wonder which one wins  Especially when that Zen isn’t even discording your hooked target xD

Some people can’t play without pocket. Often the case with guys who play Ashe/Pharah type of heroes and expect the pocket 24/7. Decent with Mercy but feeders without them. They play in the open because they are used to be able to tank 500 dmg before dying.

Ive been diffing all day lmao. Climbed from plat 5 to diamond 1.

Mercy’s pocket is broken, only way people can outplay you.

It truly is. I rarely get pocketed as I don’t duo with Mercy players, but when I get random solo queue Mercy who sticks with me when I’m on Cass I’m surprised how much I can do. It felt bad being on receiving end and I wondered how it feels to be pocketed guy.

You. Are. Unstoppable. You are one (well… two) man army mowing even tanks down. It’s silly and shouldn’t exist.

I also find a good chunk are tank diff. For example. Team A’s tank constantly pressuring Team B’s dps/support while Team B’s tank is standing in a choke ignoring what is happening and just face tanking Team A’s damage till he dies.

Really the most consistent thing I have seen is:
The guy who says X diff in chat is almost always the actual problem.

Agreed. I’d say the order is usually tank diff > support diff > dps diff.

Definitely dps diff. Now you’re getting it!

it’s not as bad as overwatch 1. Before 2s launch damge players truly didn’t do anything
