So, more dps diffs

seems to happen relatively close to the start of every season. just a series of massive dps diffs.
and I get dps isnt even close to being the strongest role but when the gaps are so wide, it doesnt matter what role they are on because youre essentially 4v5.

surely im not the only person thats noticing this

As someone who plays every role - sometimes the DPS diffs aren’t entirely their fault (sometimes they are). Here’s what it looks like for each role to cause a DPS diff.

A. Tank takes WAY too much damage or (coughcoughmaygacoughcough). This forces the supports to have to use their whole kit to keep the tank up because as we all know, if your tank goes first your chances of winning immediately plummet. The additional downside of this is that your tank acts as an ult battery for the other team which causes the opposing DPS to get ults for free whilst your own DPS are likely having more downtime looking for health packs through no fault of the supports.

B. Support - Tank is playing well, but is being over supported or unnecessarily double pocketed whilst DPS still don’t get enough support despite being in LOS or supports don’t position correctly (As a support main, yes, you need to be positioning where your team wants to play, not where YOU want to play). This results in DPS being at a severe disadvantage when fighting against a supported DPS/support pair. You can usually find these in your VODS as good supports will generally keep everyone topped off as much as is realistically possible. Bad supports generally cause DPS to spend a great deal of the game looking for health packs.

C.) DPS Aim/positioning diff - especially true with hitscan/sniper duels. Usually the first player fragged in a team fight which triggers a snowball and forces the surviving dps to fight 1v2 - typically ends how you think it does.

My advice is watch your VODs and see if your fps were losing duels or had to use the map as their support despite playing in LOS of supports.

dps is a role with the most death, lack the most self-sustain, and usually have the least heal among the team, so if their stat is lacking, there’s a lot of reasons why, all context.

because dps have the most consistently (short CDs) and easily applied (ranged or forgiving) burst damage and team wiping ults, which in a FPS is the most important stat or strength you can have and why supports have to have strong CDs and tanks have to be basically raid bosses to compensate. Otherwise we would be just waiting every match to see which team got the best dps players and it would be kind of irrelevant what the other roles did, we would be playing who can hide from the dps the longest. dps are lacking stats from the other roles yes and they still consistently decide the outcome of the match.

90-95% of my losses in COMP last 3 seasons or more have been obvious DPS diffs. The overall skill lvl of dps has plummeted.
You sit there healing them, sayin: PLZZ PLZZ kill something…nope.

It’s support players dodging the long support queues.

Watch the replay and note who dies first in each team fight. Once it becomes a 5 vs 4 the team can easily implode. If it is you dying first then that’s something you can work on and maybe take a bit of responsibility for.

I have been noticing this in the last few weeks actually. As the supports have been kicked down a few notches lately, the games are even more so being decided by who has the strongest dps in almost all cases. Well outside of the Mauga issue anyway.

i feel u, i am on a losing streak man. i dw to play anymore

keep getting 0 elims 10 deaths dps. omg.
