Sojourn was propped up as the new face of OW during her in-depth reveal and the first mythic skin of the game belongs to Genji. Not that I particularly mind but it feels kinda weird that Tracer has barely featured in anything OW2.

Tracer represents a hero who is nothing but good and happy trying to be the best they can be and clearly that isn’t Blizzards outlook going forward with OW2 so they had to change to mascot accordingly.
The only logical choice now would be Reaper.

Well, the biggest issue facing OW2 is that the general gaming public thinks it’s the same as OW1. They can’t exactly pitch those people the game with Tracer on the cover in a slightly different pose.
And to make the problem worse, their first 3 new heroes seem pretty devoid of originality when compared to Tracer, so there’s no obvious pick for a new “mascot” hero. Kiriko is the most interesting of the 3, but she looks like she could have come from any of about 10 other current games. She doesn’t immediately indicate “Overwatch” the way Tracer does.

What was original about Tracer…?
I think Winston woulda been a more visually distinct main character/mascot, and I think it’s fits story wise (tbh there’s pretty limited story options lol)

When showing off OW2 you are not going to show off the thing that was in OW1. When the PvE comes around Tracer will likely be center stage again though.

A mascot would imply the game having suffiencient personnality to be represented by one of its character.
Overwatch 2 can’t do that. It does not even have a musical theme.

at the time this was said i forgot her dmg got nerfed from 6 to 5 in OW2
