There were others that I can’t seem to remember, but now I’m seeing people throw around “nostalgic” as a buzzword to discredit anyone who actually enjoys classic gameplay. I suppose that’s the new cope?
Because its impossible for anyone to like the game that was considered game of the year back when it launched? Or, perhaps, were we nostalgic and ignorant back then too? Or is it more likely that people just enjoy the less balanced version of Overwatch because its more fun?
People nowadays talk like they hate Overwatch 2, so I’m surprised more people aren’t willing to entertain the idea that Overwatch classic is better even with less balance. Even if they only consider the thought for a moment.
It’s amazing how the forum that will protest harder than the french that Sombra isn’t op just unfun… will then turn around and be baffled by people enjoying OWC.
Symmetra 1.0 is a disaster, current symmetra is like 3x better than her. I would still rather play this version than that one. It’s more interesting to me, regardless of her strength.
OWC is fun and the hero interactions are simply better.
I agree, and it feels more satisfying to succeed with the old sym because you have so much stuff against you. Besides that, I like the feeling of having to think about Overwatch differently compared to the other characters. I get the same feeling when I play as old Bastion.
The one I’m most used to is “We just didn’t know how to play the game yet. If we did, it wouldn’t have been game of the year!” as if gamers can’t recognize a bad game from the start.
if only we got to learn Concord more, then we would have seen that its good!
And disagreeing is fine, but the problem is people aren’t just disagreeing. They’re saying people who like classic are wrong because they’re nostalgic. That’s a very specific accusation as it implies the classic enjoyers can’t be accurate judges due to a deep bias clouding their minds. Its an arrogant statement.
Not that you made the statement, I’m just explaining.
Well, I’ve never called anyone filtered. At most I point out why what someone says is unfair. Like “Widow should be egregiously nerfed because I shouldn’t have to try and beat her or play around her.” I usually just respond with “how’s that widow’s fault or problem?”
I get your point, though. People just rely on insults when they should be able to defend their opinions rationally. If their opinion is rational.
They’re just confused because they assumed everyone would hate it like them, and so this is their coping mechanism. They cant comprehend that some people legitimately dislike OW2 for what it is.
I’m pretty sure “Nostalgia” and “rose-tinted glasses” have always been used against people in the OW oldguard. Me, I never played OW1 so I can’t comment from personal experience how anything was back then, just kind of learning the history of the game, and aggregating what seems to be the most common attitudes from the time towards one subject or the other. I have been enjoying OWC tho, getting to see what I was missing out on
I want to see what the Overwatch 2 characters would feel like with Overwatch 1 balancing. Hilariously enough, someone like Venture would be kept in line by McCree’s flashbang and Mei’s slow + freeze, so they’d fit in better than most people assume.
Again, not that Ven should just be slapped into classic as I know that’d ruin the idea of the whole mode.
It being as wacky and unbalanced is Definity part of the fun. The game isn’t trying to be a an E-sports, a competitive shooter, or any other buzz words. It’s just a fun game before anything else.
i never played launch overwatch, i started playing until 2017, i love ow classic, is a lot better than 5vs5 ever was, so no nostalgia, what those ow2 5vs5 rose tinted glasses have to say about me?
