So i let my dad play ow and man it was something

first off, please let your parents try some games cause well you can connect with them more and they can see what you do and not think its a waste of time or whatever.

so ya i let my dad play ow, idk how old he is but hes like in his 40’s and was a og og gamer back in the day.

it was so cringe cause i thought it was gonna be like emonggs dad but it was so much worse lmao.

i simple showed him what heroes was there was to play, he was idk who to play and i was like ok just choose who ever you think is cool.

my dude choosed bap, like huh?

i was like oh nononno in my head cause bap is one of the hardest healers in the game and i thought people in qp was gonna flame him tbh but everyone was very chill and did not care or notice.

anyways it was so painful and remind me back in the day when we were all new to ow, when i thought widow was like a awper in csgo and not a charge rifle like tf2 since i did not play tf2 back in the day.

but ya i tried to help as much as i could but then he legit got mad and rage quited. (like he legit just got up and said i don’t got time for this and walked away)

i legit almost died laughing but quickly carried my team and we won the game.

it just funny to see people who never play or have not played games for a long time and seeing how they react and respond and behave.

i will try to make him try it again and maybe a few other games cause i really want to see how my dad acts in non fps games and wondering if he will and how long it would take him to improve.

but ya i had no idea how to help him cause well fps games are pretty simple and the abiltes were shown on the screen. you legit just aim and click buttens.

but ya i love my dad and it was very cool he actually tried ow out and see what i was playing for the past years.

but ya LMAO i can’t stop laughing man its just too funny, i of course did not make fun or him and stayed positive and was being as supportive as any good son would and was again trying to help him but he was not making it clear what he needed help with tbh.

but ya idk why he tried bap so bap mains be happy cause my bap thought the healer looked cool.

i really would love if he actually watched me play ow someday so you know he can maybe see and learn how to play the game but hey hes a busy man but still been a long time since i spent time with him.

but ya it was a interesting experience and wondering how gaming will be when i am older tbh but unlike my dad i want to be more involved with the new world and try out what my kids will try.

idk why but older people just don’t understand gaming/anime and other young people things.

but same time i don’t like now a day young people stuff ether aka like tiktok and kid friendly youtubers but same time vine was a thing when i was a kid and that was cringe looking back so its just normal kid stuff.

but ya just wanted to share and ya it was a cool seeing my dad play ow.

I got my grandmother to play one time. She had no idea what was going on but I put her into quickplay.

She immediately picks torbjorn on Oasis and she kept falling off the map. Eventually she told me “okay I have had enough” and was laughing while walking away with my controller. She got kicked for being inactive.

LMAO, freaking torb.

that is just too funny man cause he is legit the easiest of the dps since his turrent kills everything and everyone.

but ya my dad was playing on junkertown and trying to heal his teammates through the walls? i was like dad you got to see them and then ended up going into the enemy and i was like ???

i don’t think he knows red is bad and blue is good.

also did not see the big red check mark to move the payload and idk man it was just like so confusing i really wondered if he was trolling and what going on in his head (aka thinking and planing).

he did say he played fortnite 2 years ago and i can’t imagine how that went lmao.

Loool well my grandmother couldn’t get out to the fight without dying :woman_facepalming::rofl: but I was absolutely happy she eventually tried after countless times asking

40 year old dad here, I’ll smoke my kids in Overwatch.

I think you’d be surprised at the median age of Overwatch players, I meet a ton of people in their 30s & 40s playing.

Cool of you to share your interests with him though, keep it up.

LOL I’m 52 and been playing FPS since Doom, Descent and Tribes. My wife actually wanted to learn OW and my son got it for her for Christmas. She in fact got ME hooked. I have not played an FPS since BF4. OW is my main FPS now.

my first fps was the og star wars battlefield on the ps2.

later played the second one, i was not good but it was still amazing.

still got the ps2 too and sometimes will boot it up and play some of the old games i have that aren’t damaged.

ah yes the days when i could only play 30 mins a day but end up playing for 3 hours out of boredom. (also played 1v1s in rachet and clank with my dad, good times)

So wholesome

Same here. My son and his friends like to watch me play. They don’t like to play Overwatch though. They say you die too much and there’s no free play or creative mode.

i can’t have people watch me it feels so weird.

i have many youtuber/twitch streamer friends and idk how they do it, it just feels os weird to have people watch you and judge you.

I play better that way. I don’t go on auto pilot. The only thing that sucks is Overwatch has bad stomps sometimes. It’s embarrassing having people watch me get stomped in a game.

My dad is in his 60s and I like watching him play video games, he sticks the tip of his tongue out in concentration and he will move his torso left and right to the direction he’s turning like it’s gonna help him.

And sometimes I see him on his laptop looking up guides on how to do a certain part of the game cause he’s struggling to get past a part then my brother completes the part he was stuck on for him lmao.

He can’t play online versions of the games he really loves because he’ll just get stomped, so he plays single player :frowning:

I think if he played OVerwatch though… he’d be a Soldier 76 main lol seems the type of thing he’d like to play.

I love it when people don’t realize that there are already a lot of us in that age range (43 myself) and older already playing and I actually play with both my daughters. It’s great when I meet other parents and players my age. It’s good to see you enjoyed sharing a part of your life with your dad that he wasn’t really part of already.

Gotta have him play comp and voice chat to get the full experience of people cussing and shouting at you, and occasionally almost eat the mic while shouting so everyones ear drums burst.

10/10 experience for sure

If you really want to go the extra mile do the same on the EU servers to get the same experience but in russian, french or such.

ya really cringe when i do bad with my 1.5k hours.

why i hate find a group, i can’t always do well and it looks so bad when i do and i get kicked.

Buuuuuut yaaaa!!! :grinning:

The age is really not that relevant, it’s if they’ve ever used a mouse/keyboard combo. That’s very difficult to learn out of the blue for someone who isn’t used to it.

Controller wise, it takes a while to get coordinated with dual thumb sticks. I’ve seen people in their 20’s who never gamed much move around like potatoes in console games.

So would your dad be better or worse than everyone in my <500 games ?
We’re bottom 0.1%. Where would you rank him in terms of ability?

def bronze, dude has no gamesense and aim, even if he was a fps legend back in the day,

(like legit he would role me as a kid, he was insane but he was young, now i roll him if i ever 1v1 one him)
