So I just tried watching OWL again

After the new patch I decided to give OWL another try today. Dallas vs. Paris on Busan. Both teams run out as full DPS comps and I’m so hyped :D… then both teams immediately turn around, run back to spawn, and change to goats haha. Maybe next patch :(

At least theyre playing DPS, a step up from last stage

We are seeing DPS way more than in Stage 1, you just have to wait.

Seriously though, if they wanted to end GOATs in OWL, they could just make a house-rule that OWL limits Healers to a maximum of 2 per team.

Rather than trying to balance the game around how the top 0.001% of the playerbase plays.

Can’t they just forbid all OWL teams to play a certain 3-3 combo?
I enjoy teh recent stage more than the last, at least we see some non goats combos from time to time. Still not enough but better than last stage.

Forced 2/2/2 please

In OWL and in game

Yeah, I gave up watching that nonsense.

Rather watch paint dry. It’s more exciting.

An elegant solution, but they probably don’t want to “force” a meta on the pros…

Pros are pros. There’s already tons of rules on them. And this would get them to play comps that the audience can identify with.

Which engaging the audience is literally their job.

Dude if you want to watch dps so much there is CS.

How about wanting to watch team comps that are commonly played by average and above average Overwatch players?

You do know that counter strike don’t have heroes with abilities, don’t you?
Why should someone play CS if Soldier 76 is the only playable character?

yeah, that’s how matches tend to go
they run dpses for like the first two fights on koth or maybe point a of 2cp but then swap to goats right after

goats is still too strong

Season 2 OWL has been abysmal.

Players quitting, low viewer counts and not enjoyable games.

GOATS is the same in bronze as it is in OWL. People who think it takes a lot of coordination have color blinders on.

W + mouse 1 with the occasional ult combos… high skill cap.

A lot of teams who were never really comfortable with Goats are looking better when they play DPS comps. They’re just overly cautious and comfortable with sticking to it, even when they’ve shown non-Goats works fine and failed with Goats.

Over the next week or so I think we will see more of a shift from the middle table teams away from Goats onto heroes they’re happier playing, because they are seeing it work.

In the long term, it is much better that Goats was phased out with careful balance than with brute force as happened with Brig to Dive.

I’d argue trying to balance the game around the top 0.001% is a great way to make sure Overwatch fails as a commercial product.

Well this is part of the point. Goats is basically dead as a ladder spec already.

So just disallow GOATs in OWL/Contenders, and do nothing for ladder. Problem solved.

There’s no need to ban it. It’s a high coordination, high teamwork comp that only a few teams can even pull off properly anymore.
