So you’re talking about playing in Stacks in which coordination is arguably far more important and useful than Sombra hanging in the backlines. Furthermore, once the enemy team knows a Sombra is there, they’re going to be playing defense against her. This is arguably far more likely in the higher levels of gameplay as you climb in Comp.
Sombra isn’t an “eye in the sky” character. You can only focus on whats in front of you. If you’re busy pinging for your team’s widow, whose watching that Flanker going to kill your widow? If you’re chasing that Flanker around half the map, whose shutting down those Ults and shields? You see the flaw here right?
On paper this all sounds great. In practice, its extremely situational and gets progressively harder and harder to pull value as the match progresses because you’re playing against real people who can decide to counter you. Maybe they’ll go Sombra too and spend their match killing your team’s whole back line. Now you have to go camp your OWN back line to protect from their Sombra.
Again, it all sounds good on paper. In practice, it requires a high level of coordination between you and your teammates, and if you’re doing that already, the little bit of information you’re able to relay to your team is negligible in comparison. Decent communication will create infinitely more wins than random people not talking and coordinating.
Overall, trying to defend her as this “data collector” type of player just isn’t accurate. She’s supposed to be a hacker style player. Invis was only given to her to aid in getting close, but because Blizzard doesn’t play their own games, they failed to understand that Invis was the most frustrating thing about her play style.
Frankly, I’m surprised it took this long to pull it out of the passive slot. It never should have been a nearly always-on passive. It should have always required user input and been on a cooldown.
Because genji isn’t generally a good pick for widow specifically, tracer with blinks, sombra with (old invis), pharah in the odd map with a lot of vertical los breaks. Or venture with his just straight up invulnerability. And head hit box that moves all over the place.
Are much better options. especially if your looking to keep the chase up post grapple. Which genji doesn’t have much of answer for outside of like deflect.
He’s definitely hard and his weapon’s difficulty is extremely understated, I agree. I’m a genji main after all, it’s just that a lot of genji players make the hero way harder than it is supposed to be.
I didn’t say it does nothing I said it’s inconsequential for engaging and disengaging, because it is.
Only on this stupid forum do people blow the effect of +0.5m/s speed out of proportion lol…
I think I’m wasting time explaining this to you but out of basic respect I’ll give you the context. The guy said post-rework Sombra will be the only flanker that can’t go anywhere for free, but Tracer and to a lesser extent Genji already can’t go anywhere for free.
Tracer blinks (resources) when she flanks. Genji can spend no resources if map allows, otherwise he also dashes. Now, if the mechanics of translocator and the speed buff in stealth remain the same, Sombra can flank by using translocator which can potentially move her further than 2 blinks can, or sacrifice distance for verticality (so she can also take the path that Genji can), after which she gets 5s of stealth that allows her to further cover 44m of ground.
She will still be able to flank. She will actually still be able to get the surprise jump on any hero. She just can’t stealth stalk a target 24/7 lol…
And people are completely ignoring the opportunist passive buff and other changes. They see “no perma stealth” the sky is falling lol… I think these whining Sombras are poop poop Sombras who are nothing without perma stealth lol…
I think Sombra will immediately be my new queen of KOTH and I’ll be killing fools softly. Other map types will take more time to figure out, but on paper I’m okay with these changes. Stealth on TP is exactly what I wanted.
I agree. My point is, they keep trying to rework her, and every iteration is either useless or busted. It’s honestly like the people working on this game have never shipped a title before, like a bunch of fresh grads making bizarre decisions.
They want to have their cake and eat it too. They also refuse to admit that virus was a horrific decision. Until they decide on a dedicated direction or remove virus, we are going to be stuck with this nonsense regardless of how many times they “rework” her.
I hate this change to Sombra, she wasn’t broken to begin with. Bring old stealth back. My advice is have old stealth back, then remove virus, and make weapon hit harder, or hack makes her hit harder like she used to be.
So virus at the end of day is just more damage, and just having your gun do more in general or through the hack passive means you just have higher more consistent dps overall. Especially when the gun can head shot, virus can’t.
Virus it’s self is actually their to keep sombra from being a tank killer while also keeping her ttk on squishies. Do to the limited damage up time.
I have zero idea why they added back both, and killed her mobility in between.
Math Fractions don’t care about how you feel.
Neither do Queue Times.
Which are basically Math Fractions.
Queue Times get better, the closer the game gets to 20% Tank, 40% DPS, 40% Support.
That’s just an objective fact. Because it’s Math.
