Game after game I’m seeing Sombra be banned, even though there are better choices (Sojourn). The Sombra Mains subreddit is full of it, and its exactly what Sombra players expected from once this was announced.
They said they wanted the ban system to punch up at stronger heros and not down at more niche picks. But I’m not seeing a way that works under the current system.
This collective hatred reminds me of Mercy’s mass rez days. I used to play her a lot, and it took a long time for players to get over the “kill the Mercy!” mentality. I mean it’s still there, just nowhere near as bad as I remember.
Are devs banking on the community slowly realizing over time that always banning specific heroes just because they’re “annoying” isn’t the best play? Do they have a plan for if this continues and some heroes are just disproportionately more banned than others?
Because reworking a hero every time the community complains is frustrating enough. Heck, it almost seems like this is fostering a more toxic player environment in game. Where a couple players could spite vote to ban your preferred hero.
They’re banning Sombra both because she’s annoying, but also because a lot of players think that a sombra player won’t be able to play any other DPS effectively.
Finally fix her? Bruh she’s the most reworked hero in the game because of the complaining. She’s pretty fair now, but she’s perma ban worthy because she’s “annoying”. The hero bans system is just outright flawed.
Even if they did “fix” her by whatever your standards are, the hatred runs so deep that the community would never not ban her anyway.
If anyone in my Diamond lobbies has the unintelligence to ban Sombra and not Sojourn…I am going to be incredibly annoyed. Annoying hero instead of the actual OP hero is nuts.
Hopefully her high ban rate will finally push the devs to give her a proper, thorough rework. Give her a lane and stick to it. Assassin or hacker. She can’t be both.
They made a perfectly fun to play with and play against with Mirrorwatch Sombra, but they just feel the need to stay stubborn with the version that annoys everyone.
Is she not more of a hacker though? She doesn’t have assassin damage. If there is a Sombra who aims that well with her, then they could kill you even faster with 76 or just pick Sojourn…which will probably happen.
That’s it idk why I made it like a list, but that’s really it. Lower elo players don’t ban strong heroes because they don’t know what the strong heroes are because… there’s no meta there.
So they’ll just ban what they most dislike. Does that still happen in higher elos? Absolutely, but it’s mostly the strongest heroes getting banned.
From what I see people rather attack player directly than playing the game. This main that main will suffer to serve sarcastic killing ego. Great idea for reducing number of player base and skin sale rate bravooo
At least this way, Blizzard will surely be forced to rework her for the thousandth time and prehaps by some fluke we’ll end up in a better place. Her identity is already hanging by the slimmest of threads, can’t really get any worse.
