So I decided to jump on my alt

its in plat, my main is in gm.

Its the exact same games just with a lower rank icon when I go to queue. and I mean exact same. the same players I see on my main.
why even have ranks when they mean literally nothing?

Share you profile, else it never happened and you are silver.
Plat is nothing like gm.

It sounds like you tried to make a smurf account and the game figured out what your MMR actually is.

which one? this is my alt and my main is overbuff.c om/players/nou-21556

ive played a total of 5 hours since launch.
no it hasnt.

Ok im sorry.
But how can you say its the same?
Even i am plat with tank and my aim is really trashy.

because its literally the same people.
my plat account does not get plat games.

your MMR is in GM already, simple. I have multiple plat-1 accounts in top100 already, and when they ask β€œwhy do we have plat in GM?” I just keep smiling.

I undersand why I’m not getting plat games (don’t think they are particularly accurate though. They might be consistent with my main but my main has awful games too), my point is more to do with the fact that ranks are completely meaningless

To protect people in lower ranks from the likes of you.

System works as intended nothing to see here, move along.

Your MMR is GM. That’s all there is to it.

My account was masters. The only reasons it’s plat is because of the new system, but go off I guess.

Then why are you upset that you face GM players on that account?

That is pretty telling actually…

im not…

I’m mad that ranks don’t matter.

They probably track your ip and know its you based on settings and stuff. Smurf proof mmr.

And what is the problem exactly?

The rank will catch up pretty quickly to your MMR, which is GM.

System works like that to prevent high rank players to ruin low ranked games. It works as intended.

What you expect? to face plats on that account?

It’s also why so many people get catapulted up the ladder but then just don’t perform. Which then makes the matchmaking even worse since the system is wrong in the assumption that the player is then going to consistently perform at x rank.

Mmr adjustments are far too aggressive. It should be significantly slower to climb the ladder and be put into masters/gm+ games to remove any chance of a lucky winstreak essentially hard boosting somebody up a full rank or even more. Just like it was in OW1.

ty for confirming what the devs have been saying

People complained about smurfs, so Blizzard delivered. there is no middle ground for this.

Well there needs to be as it’s hard boosting players up the ladder. See: The players who went from gold to masters/gm in 1 season who can be identified without even checking their profiles.

All it takes is a lucky long winstreak and your mmr gets boosted to the moon but then falling is almost impossible without an ungodly loss streak.

do you know how long of a win streak that would have to be? really long, we are talking over 20 games as the system does not start adjusting until you you hit like 7 in a row. and then how many are making up to the loss streak you probably just had.

best winstreak i had after being placed has been 18.

you can get higher if you start with an account in a lower mmr than you are, but that is basically bullying.
