Well canonically both were trained mainly with the sword and Hanzo beat Genji in a sword fight, believing him to be dead. He stopped using the sword because he didn’t want to use the weapon he used to kill his brother. Makes sense that he’d be better with it than a bow that he used for a couple of years at most.

He doesn’t claim it, he is it. It’s well known. He straight up murdered Genji with a sword.

Hanzo with a sword makes Genji look like Effi.
