So everyone stopped playing Weaver?

So got on QP with some friends for a few hours, and realized we didn’t see a Lifeweaver all evening. Asked a few other teammates and enemy players as well, and got a few negative responses. Not good for a newly released character. Don’t recall any if the new characters disappearing from play so quickly.

I gueas everyone is waiting for the buffs and control redux?

I mean yeah, I’d think even for the few masochists that can stand playing him, wouldn’t make sense to devote a bunch of time getting used to the clunky swapping when it’s getting fixed.

I may have killed a bunch as D.Va and helped deter them O.o…

New Character hype isn’t as strong as it was back in the day, especially when they’re a support and kinda bad.

Same thing happened with Baptiste, people were legit forgetting he was in the game like a month after he dropped.

Nah i still see him.

IMO his heal doesn’t need to be charged at all.
Pull, Cool time is so long that I can take a nap in between. Petal not too convenient, tree is good but doesn’t fit into the pace of the game. Hit box is huge.

My conclusion: back to playing Bap etc.

his abilities arent straight forward enough in terms of how to get value from them for the majority of players… so yeah hes not gonna be popular… but the goal of new heroes shouldnt be to convert everyone into playing them, its to add more variety and choices to the game.

for years they added heroes who were good at everything… theyve said recently that they dont want to do that anymore, they want heroes who do their own thing but are counterable.

honestly ive really loved having him as my second support when im playing support… watching him yoink my overextending tank from certain death is therapeutic to me

Would probably be playing him more if he felt decent to play personally. Not only is his weapon swap really annoying, but he just overall feels weak. Bad healing, bad ult, no way to escape dives, huge hitbox, drops a goodie bag for the flanker that killed him.

He feels like a Dollar Tree brand Ana with none of the positives that make Ana useable.

He’s healing output is so low. I’m getting good with him but any descent support will outheal me easily. And that’s with doing no damage, don’t have time for that.
No burst healing also…
And it’s not like other support don’t have great utility. Ana, for example, have better utilities and get a lot more heals in, plus she can still do damage.

He has AWFUL healing.

His kit isn’t useful in many situations.

After an evening of playing nothing but Lifeweaver and fiddling with his control scheme between every match…

I don’t think I’ll play him again until after the controls overhaul. I want to love playing him, but there just isn’t any button layout that feels comfortable to play with his current setup.

I just don’t want to be a huge hindrance to my team.

Aye. If they keep the digits, at least get rid of the charge.

Also like others mentioned, he drops health pack favor to the enemy flanks. I have no idea why the dev didn’t give him “heals nearby allies when killed” instead. He is supposed to be the “Life Weaver” of my team, not “Spy Weaver.”

The downsides just heavily out weigh the good.

Haven’t even unlocked him yet…

I WANT to play him more but he’s so weak that it feels like throwing by picking him.
He fails at both healing and damage, and his utility although good definitely doesn’t make up for the lack of either of them.

His kit is half theoretical value and his more… Static value, I guess we’ll call it, is awful.
His healing per second is Zen tier with restrictions on it more in line with Kiriko’s with the ammo, travel time, blocked by shields(?) and exclusively to him, charge time.

His damage is really mid feeling, his self sustain is… He has some!

So much of his value is dependent on clutch Lifegrips and Petal Platform that he just isn’t very enjoyable if you can’t execute those. I don’t find him terribly clunky (I’m all for them smoothing him out though) but his cycle is sooooooooo healbot because they developed the least engaging most frustrating to use heal mechanic yet.

I have to charge it up to get any reasonable healing from it, it consumes ammo as well, it has travel time so people can die after I’ve charged and sent it, and a Sig, Rein, Winston or Ram could pop-up their barrier blocking my in flight, ammo consumed, charged up healing.

His hitbox is chonky with hilariously bad self sustain if he’s dove or focused to any reasonable degree.

The ideas behind his design are interesting, but they feel poorly executed with the game’s reality. (I mean the whole players typical level of coordination, not that his biolight is in conflict with hard light constructs or something)

Well, hope they got enough data on him to make adjustments as the director mentioned in his twit on Friday. Haven’t seen much of Weaver since Thursday, so betting his play dropped precipitously.

Even in the lifeweaver invitational they were not able to get great value of him.
And those are highly skilled coordinated teams.

Oooooh… That’s really bad.
Like I’m fine with writing him off as a bad Support to pick sub Master if it’s a skill issue, but if he’s performing poorly even when being played by (near) pro tier players in a coordinated setting…
Yikes.
