Seems like everyone is getting placed way lower than where they were before in OW1
t500s are placing diamond from what I heard. I also heard a masters play placed bronze.
a full reset would’ve just been the better alternative… especially since those against it were saying it would ruin the matchmaker, but now masters are with bronzes anyway…

Yeah, they did a soft reset, putting you about one full rank lower than it thinks you should be. It’s a compromise to a complete reset.
Welp, I guess this grind will fill out my battlepass at least… Sigh
I’m a masters support and got placed plat. I low-key don’t mind that much. I think the game plays completely differently that if I was placed back in masters, I’d be throwing completely. It makes sense

Yeah, that was deliberate. They said they were dragging everyone’s SR down a little to see who genuinely belongs at the top ranks, and that players who got to play the beta or watched OWL would be better equipped to recover their SR faster.
I’m a bit surprised to hear t500 players showing up in diamond, but at the same time a season 2 plat player in OW1 ended up being somewhere equivalent to low gold in season 35. Guess OW2’s skill curve got a proper reset.
I hate it when games do this. It’s a bullshot way to cause people to grind and just causes more tilt than anything.
League does the same thing and it’s awful there too.
I mean this is kind of what’s happening at the moment M8, they seemed to cleared out peoples back log of info. And are ranking them based on their OW2 play time.
Which considering that no one knows what their doing or are immediately hopping in rank, without giving the system time to reorganize the new player levels. Your going to basically get this.
I hope MMR is softly reset. My main account never hit 4K but I’m always in 4.3k lobbies. Rather play in masters.
I plan to wait to play comp so everything spread back out across the ranks before I start my placements. Probably wait till mid to late next week. Till then i will be my usual quick play self.
Well, duh. New playstyle will take time for people to adapt to.
I wonder if battle supports will rise faster in ranks.
