Exactly!! People are saying she still has no character, but shes a 19 year old BADASS. I reckon she reason she views her fights as games is BECAUSE she needs something to disconnect her from reality. Shes so young, yet a completely different person to how the media portrays her, and kind of a completely different person to herself entirely (seeing how shes created a barrier between her work and real life). Just speculation, but super interesting.
She probably isnt even allowed to leave because then the public would see she isnt perfectly fine, saving the day without a scratch

And D.va emerged without a scratch. Only, she didnt, she was almost dead. The point of that was to say the media is lying to Korea, because its better to say ‘Your heroes are perfectly flawless’ rather than ‘Your last line of defence almost died’. Her team mates either ARE dead or in hospital

I get the media lying part but the OP said the squad is dead and the media is lying. They can’t hide that because who’s going to fly the MEKA when the time comes?

yeah i was sort of confused about the other pilots too. Cause her entire squad being dead would actually be emotionally impactful but it feels like blizz pulled the punch? But I can’t tell.
I’m pretty sure their mechs were just broken. A see a lot of people assuming they died but I don’t think that was what happened.

Theyre not dead…the fight in which they were brought down just happened, so dva and the othr guy would stil be mourning if they had died.

I don’t think they wanted the peppy fun loving D.va to be associated with truma and dead friends. Bad for image
They only showed 2 people actually emerging from the fight, not including D.va. I mean I suppose the picture on the TV of them together could be a hting, but like Taehyun said, she wasnt even there. She was working on the suit. So that picture was probably either old or edited
I really think if they were dead, they would say so in the short and wouldn’t be talking about “glitz and glamor”

They’re not dead, they just got wrecked in that last kaiju battle and are now taking some time off to heal. Probably the same thing D.Va is going to do now after the fight against the Pharah Omnics.

The D.va short wasted the potential and some of us are looking for anything deeper in it but it’s pretty face value.
Sadly D.va’s lore is still not good.
