Pretty much this. I’ve always hated the upvote/downvote war in popular topics. It wasn’t healthy and fair at all.

Downvotes offer nothing constructive most of the time. If you really feel passionate about something as they tell the children “Use your words”.

Or ignore troll posts.

Downvoting was not a good thing. It was incredibly demoralizing and didn’t do anything to help discussion.
When done en masse, it was more annoying than anything.

Troll posts might deserve shaming, but more often than not I saw downvotes directed towards people just for having unpopular opinions.
Anyone who’s truly disruptive and breaking the terms of service should just get their posts flagged.

Our mentalities will adjust. In a few weeks, if you see a 300 reply thread with 10 upvotes, your brain will see that as a massively downvoted OP.

We’ll get used to it.

Then leave them and let the fall to the end of the forms. You dont HAVE to display your distaste for something. Ignore it. You only feed the trolls doing otherwise

It’s kind of odd that down votes are gone. Might as well have likes gone too. I’m more annoyed links are blocked though.

We also can’t see what heros the person posting plays. The forums no longer show that.

Nothing but a positive change. Downvotes offered no feedback or constructive criticism. Hopefully now players will now be encouraged to express their opinion with words.

This! :slight_smile: The downvote function was sadly just too overused on the old forum by people who most of the time didn’t even read the topic. :slight_smile:
Now you have to read and reply to it.

Plus if a topic is well taken and liked by the community, it will stand out anyway with the many likes. :slight_smile:
