So, content creators get all free stuff?

I am just curious. Every time they make a video about incomming skins and BP and shop stuff - they already have them equiped, they have tones of credits and access to everything. Do they get it in echange of promoting it, or they are on some “test realm”, where they can access everything early?

I believe it’s the latter, I think there is a test server where creators and anyone with the invite can test out the new season, including all of the skins for free. I don’t think they get the skins and stuff for free on their main accounts, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

They probably get early access on a test server if they are big enough.

If a creator is big enough I think it makes sense for them to buy BP content anyway as they’re spending money on their “work” so to speak.

Even if they did get everything free on their main accounts it’s not like it would be completely unfounded. Blizz and content creators have a symbiotic relationship, good content brings in more players, more players brings in more viewers, everyone gets more money. It would make sense for them to give them some free stuff to encourage that cycle.

I am just curious, cause this one guy always has like 50k shop credits and he had this since the beginning. xD

It’s a special test realm. Pretty sure Frogger and few others mentioned this on stream when asked why they didn’t have a skin they were using in the preview.

Damn, that is so excessive lol. Unless there was some bundle deal on coins I see no reason to have that much at one time.

And the same content creators who said they quit the game because of the PvE cancellation have got this special test?

Interesting

IIRC is not anyone bigger streamer, must be in their “circle” or in their “bubble” to get access to this.

I always thought that content creators were the biggest hypocrites in the gaming industry. Literally will state any biased opinion for click bait then will do a 180 and end up sleeping with the enemy.

It happens sadly all the time, why I always sort of have to look for new channels to watch. Be it movie reviews, games etc once they become “big” it’s all the same. Constant sponsor segments, begging for their patreon or subscriptions etc.

On top of all that their “opinion” is heavily influenced by companies as they don’t want to offend any one who might give them free stuff or pay to have a good review.

I think Flats is one the biggest ones in OW. He’s pretty fun to watch and his interactions with Emog is hilarious most the time. But he is a deep shill with early access, Dev’s coming to talk to him about patch notes and so on.

Not all “shills” are to that level. Some just do it for the hope they might be let into the club in the future. At the very least though any one who does content creation enough to make a living can write off any in game purchases as “business expenses”.

So buying a game, a battle pass etc is an expense to some one who plays a game for a living.

well they can always use the sponsorship money and lose no money while gaining more…so yeah technically free

They use a test server. Dozens of content creators get invited to test out the new changes and see the new cosmetics for the beginning of a season.

The term “creators” for these kinds of people has always rubbed me the wrong way.

What really are they creating besides videos of themselves sharing their opinions or playing a game like everyone else? They are glorified advertisers. Heck, ambassadors is even a better title. But actual creative creators they are not in the slightest.

They’re not, which makes me think that they are more worthy of being labelled “shills.”

I am relatively certain they purchase them themselves and write them off as business expenses. Some developers give them free credits. And maybe that happens here… But some of these cats are just addicted to skins and definitely go beyond whatever Blizzard provides (if anything). Not naming any names because their skin obsession is their business and I do not want to direct hate. However, I am confident there is a limit to what Blizzard provides based solely on their conduct. Lol.

I would agree. It does not “rub me the wrong way” as really it forces my eyeballs to roll super way back into my head and then giggle that the only thing they are creating is nothing.

They sit on front of a camera, spew a bunch of crapola that means nothing, people watch (for some crazy reason) and somehow they get paid. It is the equivalent of the old late at night infomercials. I have never watched a single "streamer, influencer, creator --insert other silly made up title here-- (except about 15mins asmongold to see what the hubbub was about and it was much about someone who’s not taken a shower in years, yell). I got better things to do w/my time.

thats just the state of video games nowadays. 20 years ago it wasnt like this. there was no video game icon hero kids watched. no buying a game because your video game icon hero was playing it. its a strange world now and even an old guy like myself can be influenced sometimes. one of the games i bought because streamers were playing it is “among us” i can say tho all those hours was worth it in that game. its like a glorified “clue” boardgame and i always loved that board game when i was a kid

One of the streamers already confirmed that it’s a test server they are in with (almost) all of the new content unlocked and available. One video I saw for Season 5 yesterday had the Wicked skin equipped while specifically saying it was unlocked on that test server.

They get to test the upcoming patches/content on PTR but they are constantly getting keys for Battle Passes, Skins and Bundles that they can use on their account and the rest giveaway. That’s why you will see these terrible “follow, like, retweet, subscribe, tag 19 ppl…” giveaways on Twitter all the time.
