So… this session… all I ever played was Tanks and Supports all night. Not a single DPS hero was picked. Everyone I queued up always automatically have their mouse settings to always pick a DPS Hero, snatching the chance away from me. As a result, I’m forced to play Tanks and Supports, often times solo. And you call tell how much “fun” can have when you do those things solo.
My hours played the most is on Reinhardt with a total of 29:03:04. My next Hero is Zenyatta, with a total of 15:00:58. I’m not even having any fun playing Reinhardt anymore, just because of how often I’m being indirectly forced to pick a Tank Hero.
Again, this was in QP, so it really doesn’t matter. But before you go off telling me “I should have joined in” or “Just pick a DPS hero, who cares, it’s Quick Play”, let me remind you.
I am a filler role type of man: which means that I am willing to play whatever the team needs me to. However, this also means that I will have to either solo tank or solo heal, neither of which is of no fun to me. And don’t you even dare accuse me of “not doing my job properly.” When you do thing solo and your DPS are just chasing the enemy to the other end of the rainbow, they find out the pot of gold is a lie, and then they all die. Even then, they have the AUDACITY to diss me.
Also, BECAUSE I’M NICE. If you think you think you can break a proper 2-2-2 composition with 4-5 DPS Heroes that can do basically nothing to it, I’m willing to let you fail.
No, what I’m saying is that it’s really Blizzard’s fault for creating this mess. Every game ever has much more DPS players than tank or support players, yet most games adapt to that by simply requiring much less tank and support heroes to have a well-functioning team. Overwatch completely ignores this, on the contrary they’re actively working against it.
Overwatch is like a restaurant that serves pizza, Brussels sprouts and rollmops, but only ever has enough pizza for 1/3 of its customers and then wonders why it’s getting so much complaints.
And I really don’t understand it, they have a textbook example of the aforementioned phenomenon with WoW and that game copes pretty well with it, but with Overwatch they’re pretty much behaving like an ostrich with its head in the ground…
So my advice? Well, pick your poison:
either continue like you’re doing, get frustrated and eventually quit the game
become more egoistic and play DPS regardless of what others play. Then you can either stop caring about winning and maybe have a little bit of fun in this game or get frustrated of losing all the time and quit as well.
This game is literally killing itself by allowing core design flaws become more and more prevalent instead of fixing them.
What gets me is that Jeff Kaplan already knew this because he worked on WoW, and in a 1tank/3dps/1healer lineup in that game… dps still massively outnumbered the other roles
You’ve posted literally the same thing six times today, with that being the only thing you’ve posted in each discussion. And all 31 of your posts are the same thing (or a very slight variation to tell people to calm down).
Please stop spamming.
Anyway OT: That’s unfortunately just how it is man. Game is designed to encourage players to play tanks and supports, but DPS is and always has been the more popular role. Makes getting a somewhat normal team comp sometimes kind of a hassle.
Dude we’re all in the crap rn. Playing Comp is a chore and will only really change over time. Now this is where you compromise yourself. You are a fill main. Taking up that title means you main FILL. Just to clarify, no one expects you to enjoy what you are doing, but you MAIN it. Therefore at this point if you are adhering to this title in QP then you should be aware of the consequences for doing so. You just aren’t gonna play a lot of what you want. Your problem is in your ego pal. Feeling that you are entitled to play what you want when you want while still purposefully adhering to it when no one IS directly forcing you. Especially in Quick play. It may not be the case but it makes it seem like you just WANT to complain.
The sad thing is they did such a great job making supports fun and skillful but so completely failed with tanks. Despite being overpowered relative to the other roles, still hardly anyone can stand to play them.
Honestly, it really just comes down to the fact that supports are often protected by a team, so people do not really have to play the game at times. Let other people do the work to actually kill stuff. Many people actually still cannot aim, so supports live a long time due to people missing shots.
DPS people like since you go out to try to kill stuff and its within your own hand to kill stuff. Most people again cannot aim at skinny targets so people like tracer get away with a ton of nonsense they shouldn’t otherwise get away with.
Everyone can hit tanks. Even with all the power of tanks people can hit them and therefore melt them. Dva/Zarya is fun for many to play, but she melts as they are big enough people can hit them.
I dunno. In the games I play tanks die less than pretty much anyone else. I think it’s just their inherent gameplay isn’t fun; nobody likes playing slow, unresponsive characters, and people also dislike low precision weapons.
I think it’s telling that the tanks people actually like playing are the ones that are either not slow (Dva, Hammond) or not imprecision (Zarya).
