So... 6v6 role queue and tanks

pretty much battle of the tanks again. most damage and impact. two games i played and both were stomps. bigtime stomps lol… our tanks did like the most damage and just outclassed theirs by a mile. was kind of sad. both games my tanks performed way better than the enemy and i was like cosmetic as sombra. well i did disrupt a little but i can imagine if the enemy tanks were our tanks

i mean i am sure im gonna be on the stompee team soon and yea its about the most impactful role as the important one (tanks)

actually my tanks did twice my damage as sombra and the other dps (soldier 76). is that how it should be?

Posting battle of tanks is delulu when role queue has never been more tank centric than it is during 5v5. Tanks have always and will always be the most important role in the game, all 6v6 needs to do to make it better than 5v5 is to make it go back so tanks arent allowed to mindlessly W key at people and win for free inside of duels. If we’re back to Overwatch 1 where in high elo Winston genuinely wasnt a counter to Genji we’re good, cause old OW Genji could 1v1 a winston and win if he played well.

Im tired of mindless brainless tanks winning from being overbearing stat sticks just to make this crummy formula function.

i would rather we have open queue and they made tanks the cosmetic role or very weak… no one plays tanks then… i mean no loss since open queue

a role shouldnt dish out that much damage and have sustain or be tanky as well imo.

difference with 5v5, I have pretty clear and clean LOS to the enemy dps/supports for large chunks of the game.

I don’t “have” to win the tank war, I can infact just kill the enemy support. Or burn an imporant cooldown like suzu, and tell my team it’s gone.

And we win, all the same.

Only played one match so far accidently joined 5v5 and left and got penalized for 2 hours and it was fairly fun, both teams were constantly fighting each other and healing for once felt less stressful.

that would be support. Tanks are just more visible but Supports are actually the most important.

i mean i understand the want for the game to be a moba mmo and have defined roles. i also understand the tank has to have impact to hold ground and thats being tanky and doing TONS of damage

i do wish it was more arena like tho and more of a everyone is weak fast agile and does damage. or glass cannons running around. dont know how you could do that with tanks besides making them smaller, a bit less health equal compared to about the dps but making do a bit more damage or just a tad less than dps

i can live with this 6v6 mode (the role queue moba one) if it was actually a thing but yea… for sure tanks are the most imactful role

my contribution in one game was ganking the ana a couple of times, disrupting so the enemy was worried about turning around so yea i played a role. still i do get the feeling that the tank/support role is the most important

like i said i can live with this 6v6 mode and i rather have it over 5v5 but its almost the same in a way. its more chaotic thats for sure since you can be down one man probably and come back?

the more people part is the better part over 5v5… maybe it needs more tuning?

confused as to why they buffed tanks as much as they did…there’s 2 now, so shouldn’t they not be buffed as much?? I can see them being buffed with just ONE, but now that there’s 2 I’d think it’d be the opposite.

My more serious reply to the topic: tanks have always had a big impact. I would be surprised if they weren’t really important in the temporary 6v6 mode.

The big difference is that Hogs have an easier time justifying going Hog when they can dump all tanking duties on the other guy.

Can you give examples? I skimmed the patch notes but it’s straight nerfs to tanks. Passives were removed, plus individual nerfs.

mostly i meant the huge HP buffs…with having 2 tanks now I would think they wouldn’t be double raid bosses

6v6 so far

  • wrong hosting,

  • aim breakpoints and ttk/io ruined by crossplay,

  • solos vs stacks ft. cheaters are still there.

  • 10fps 300ms backfill bug just like the OWC. still not fixed.

ofc the base game issues still there.

not a single “clean” 6v6 lobby yet.

Some (but not all of them) get 50 HP. It might look like they get more, but it’s acutally because they’re having armour turned into inferior white HP. Meanwhile, they get individual nerfs, plus the loss of the tank passives, plus an extra source of incoming damage. There might be one or two that get off lighter than the rest but in general, they’re definitely toned down from live versions.

It is extremely hard to pull this off. I’ve done it before as Genji, and I don’t see this working out very well, because Winston has both shorter cooldowns, and a new ranged alternative fire.

No need to march into their backline when their backline thinks they can 1v1 a tank. Looking at you DPS Moira’s and Brigitte’s.
