I don’t like single tank and/or single support.
As DPS I don’t get enough heals and I don’t have enough space, as support I’m an easy target and can’t heal properly, as tank it’s incredible hard to make space.
Why is 4-1-1 fun?

It’s only fun for the 4 dps who don’t care enough to play as a team in a team based game and instead want to put all the stress on the poor souls playing rein or mercy.
Most dps aren’t even staying with the team so they woudl care less if all they do is flanking all the time.
I’ve been seeing a lot of hate against 2/2/2 because “you can win with a three dps or four dps comp”…but how many games have you ACTUALLY won doing that? If there truly was a dps comp more than two wouldn’t it have been meta at least at one point over 3 years?
Its only fun for people who secretly prefer deathmatch over the general gamemode.
It is not. It would need to be rebalanced for 411 to work. Why people want 411 is because it eliminates the queue problem and in the hypothetical, allows all tanks and supports to be busted, which is fun, imo.
the problem i have with 4-1-1 is that it makes the tank and healer options very limited. as dps heavy comp you dont want to group up, you want to attack from multiple angles and overwhelm the enemy team. this means the tank has to be amazing at creating space alone by himself and the healer must provide decent healing but most importantly be mobile. so hammond and mercy it is.
I really enjoy healing for 4-1-1, actually, when it’s played competently. Tanking is tougher, though.
I don’t mind, the comp is fun. My team runs it in scrims every now and then.
Because in barrier watch the game becomes about hunkering behind barriers. The gross amount of healing too lets you make way more mistakes. Individual play matters a lot less, the game slows down to points only being taken with ults a lot of the time. So in reality a lot of the game is just hunkering behind barriers with healing until one team gets an ult combo. Sorry if I find that slow paced and boring and lacking of the expression of individual skill. It’s just much more boring and 4-1-1 is action packed, decisions matter more, positioning matters more, and a push is decided by initiating with a few good decisions.
4-1-1 is NOT fun and anyone who says it is is foolish
I think it depends on whether it’s an “agreed” upon comp or one that’s ultimately a compromise. I’ve had games where people wanted to run it, and it was fun in the situation, even when I was the one playing healer. However, most of the time, it’s 4 people locking in DPS and refusing to compromise or flex, so yes, it can be unfun.
Just a thought. I’m pretty sure Blizzard originally thought of the game to be generally 4-1-1. The original warning messages at the hero select screen used to only call for 1 healer and 1 tank. And the proportion of the amount of DPS to healers to tanks used to come off very close to 4:1:1. Of course, DPS back then was also split into Offense and Defense
I think I like the idea of 4-1-1 because it has more options of heroes. As a person who prefers to adjust to others. I’m honestly SICK of playing the same 4 or 5 supports every single time.
Its fun to have options.
Thats that.
I’d like to take this opportunity to point out something that kinda gets overlooked with 4-1-1
As a flex tank there is only really 3 viable single Tank heros. These tanks then usually require some specific dps heros to make the 4-1-1 work. Otherwise it really isn’t that fun.
1. Hammond-I don’t think I need to say why this works but his ability to disrupt and avert eyes from 4 potential threats is huge. Hammond is the best single tank in that there isn’t much of a restriction on which dps heros work with him. That being said, snipers are some of the best dps to team up with him because you can pressure the enemy from multiple angles while Hammond scatters the enemy. This means the enemy cant reliably contest the scattered dps quickly enough as long as Hammond survives and eventually people will stray 2 far from the group and get picked.
2. Orisa- This is kinda fun because it’s all about focusing spam damage 2gether. It’s like having a mega lazer just melting anything it touches. This of course means it’s best to have spam heros who can just unload damage endlessly. Hanzo, Torb, Bastion. That sort of thing. It’s like a super high damage bunker comp.
3. Zarya- This one is one of my favorites and very high risk high reward. Essentially you have Zarya and a bunch of Brawling heros+Lucio. You just run up
to the enemy and break their face in while deploying bubbles on your Doom, Reaper, Torb. It’s like that pokemon Drill-horn. You either miss and suffer for it or you just KO the enemy team in a single push. Fun note, coordinating with a Symm makes this comp extremely scary.
The fun part of these comps is they are all high risk high reward but if you play them well you can easily catch your enemy off guard and easily snow ball.
And the DPS absolutely NEED to take advantage of any space provided given a solo tank will be pretty limited in the scope of their abilities and how long that space can be provided.
I enjoyed it before the mercy healing nerf tbh. Now I kinda just default to moira to tolerate it.
4-1-1 can be fun if people know what they’re doing. I really only have a problem with it if the DPS aren’t killing anything (which makes it tough on the tank, which in turn makes it hard on me [the support] because it means I support the DPS less)
I guess the only people on forums are tanks and supports. Cause forums always crappin on DPS
This guy gets it… no question.
The attitude: “Imma gonna have my funz, someone elsez tanks and healz me so I can blamez them if wez losez”… bit tired of that routine…
