Smurfs get to bypass the normal ladder

Glad to see this is your experience as you abuse the pay2win no-reset system on multiple accounts. Of course, the rigging doesn’t work in a directly oppressive way that immediately proves itself at UI/UX layer. It’s a progression tax and smoothing method.

Good to see you’re onboard with removing mmr altogether!

Rigging or not, you would be totally comfortable in an SR only system! An SR only system will randomly sample players from a given SR band, let them play without modifying in-game params, reward SR+pbsr to the winners, and not track any historical data performance or tamper with lobby selection based on it.

It’s win-win for everyone!

This is just a generic matchmaking patent.

… this is just another matchmaking patent based off of statistical analysis.

This patent is old, and clearly is just an old design they had and scrapped. It’s not relevant to even bring up.

In another example, if a player has been performing poorly (e.g., getting killed at a rate higher than the player’s historical rate), the scoring engine may dynamically adjust one or more coefficients to match the player in a game that will improve the player’s performance. For example, the player may be matched with easier opponents, matched with better teammates, and/or placed in a game that is more tailored to the player’s preferences (e.g., players that play in games more closely aligned with their preferences tend to perform better).”

You do realize this type of analytical matchmaking is found in many competitive games right? This isn’t “rigging” it’s literally dynamically adjusting the way it should be.

Not of use in overwatch. You really think people who buy the owl skins are handed easier games?

I want to mention that in these patents, Kaplan is in them. He’s a designer and leader that has had absolutely 0 malicious intentions, and the entire overwatch team at blizzard can attest to that. I just don’t see your point with these patents. This is how matchmaking in games works.

Don’t believe me? Look even Valve has one! WO2020051517A1

interesting that he conveniently requests for actual evidence lol

Strongly disagree. Unless you’re talking about Master/GM/T500 where both team are meta-slaves.

When I climbed to 1800SR, the matches actually got easier because the tanks on both teams started getting better and everyone became a bit more coordinated. Even the slightest improvement in coordination makes a big difference. And better tanks = more opportunity for dps and support to playmake. 1800SR games was like playing a good game of Quickplay, where I’m playing with higher ranked tank/dps against another higher rank tank/dps.

Bronze is hell for supports, especially in 2CP. There’s barely any opportunity for us support to do any playmaking, especially without having any team-wipe ultimates which pretty much determines majority of the game. And I get 2CP maps way too often in this game, it’s a horrible map for supports in bronze.

Bronze these days are so hard that one tricking isn’t even on the list of possibility anymore if you want to climb quickly. I need to be proficient at not just bap and ana, but also zen, moira and lucio as well to win some of these unwinnable games.

On the flip side though, I started realising why I get so many unfair matches. It’s because I play most of my ranked games past mid-night. For a change, I decided to play a few games during the day and oh boy, the level of difficulty was insanely different. I was popping off so much as baptiste and it almost felt like I was playing in a different rank o.O

I guess playing in a region with dry playerbase + playing during off-peak hours is a recipe for disaster for ranked games. I would’ve hoped that the matchmaker wouldn’t put me in extremely one sided games, but I guess they prioritise finding you a match over how unfair it may be.

Strong agreed, and the example can be seen all over this forum

That’s exactly how I feel as well, the higher up you climb the more coordinated and better your teammates become.

Especially playing Support becomes less painful lol.

Oh no!

The system is recognizing smurfs and isnt just letting them constantly ruin games for people clearly worse than them!

Cool

Receipts already explained to you that’s not how patents works.

“To be patentable, the invention must be statutory, novel, useful, and nonobvious. Certain requirements, such as novelty and non-obviousness, will require you to conduct a preliminary patent search and retain an attorney or agent to search comprehensively.”

That’s it dude. Basic us patents law.

Also…

Also while you may think a picture proves use like a kid may believe Thor is real because they watched the Avengers. If you read the patent when it refers to picture it says…

“FIG. 5 is a screenshot displaying an overall team metric in the form of a meter or bar;”

It’s the bar there using not overwatch.

Actually, I take the kid thing back they probably still understand how a movie works and why he’s there.

You don’t see it because you’re part of the problem.

it’s not all about climbing, it’s about dealing with stupid masters players who think they can prove a point by climbing out of lower ranks that they don’t have business in or belong.

Edit: we’re talking intent when we mention rigging.

Blizzard is not fixing the matchmaker via: solo que for rank only, phone verification, raised level for comp, and other reasonably easy solutions that could add up.

The system might not have originally been designed rigged. So what of blizzard and players that ignore player manipulation (smurfs, wintrading, account sharing, boosting, et cetra)? Intentionally ignoring fixes to matchmaking problems is rigged through inaction and/or ignorance. It’s not just blizzard rigging the system, it’s you rigging it. Take your pick.

You climbing on fresh accounts doesn’t prove anything except ignorance benefits players like you more than most.

let us know after you climb into GM while playing in plat.
Literally a leach in your own rank.

It’s not the same Kaplan lmao. They have no relation. Keith works for Amazon now where he develops algs that learn what you want to buy and rig the items you see based on how you clickview.

I see you’re a late joiner to this discussion.

All of those patents are in play (save 1). They are all linked by “battle.net platform”. To stop large corporations from flooding the patent office with spam, they are periodically required to showcase if/how the patent is used.

So we know they’re in use, and we know the product/service is “battle.net platform” so is hearthstone really that rigged or is it CoD oh wait CoD isn’t on bnet? Oh but here is a screenshot of OW in 3 of the patents hmmm I wonder if it applies?

Stop defending it based on zero grounds. If you want to claim overwatch isn’t rigged, find some documentation that says so.

This. Saying they don’t notice smurfing while literally smurfing is invalidating af. They may as well have dealt themselves out of the convo.

I haven’t played in Bronze, but if you think silver is organized, or even gold or plat, than I REALLY don’t want to know what’s going on down there.

alpha testing with every possible kind of rigging from alts vs. alts wintrading eachother every night to new cheat deployments vs. new detects, to weird bots playtesting with in-game param changes. Wouldn’t put it past the devs to anonymously troll with different game settings. It may as well be a sandbox in the <500 where everyone has basically opted-out of being owed any kind of integrity. It’s an island of misfit toys no1 reports because there really isn’t anything reportable. It’s a boycott of false laddering.

I think the biggest problem with silver is how terrible the skill variance is there. This season I have never had such swings in terms of skill and match results. I used to have 30-3 games maybe 1 out of 30 games or the inverse where you have more deaths than elims.

I had 3 games out of 10 where I had more deaths than elims in a rating range I normally can handle no problem at all. It’s always been a problem but now it’s even worse. There are a TON of smurfs in this rank as I am sure all ranks are infested with them.

I feel terrible for bronze players with the leavers and a sea of people that are easily 6-800 sr below where they should be playing at.

Some games I feel like a God and some am humbled to the point as like I should be playing 2 tiers below.

I just placed a new account and except for my very first game, i didn’t face more low level accounts than usual.

Generally speaking, you want to avoid bronze for many reasons. Smurfs infesting in that rank, least amount of coordination, lack of player base (leading to less fair matches) and diverse skill gap (decent players hardstuck for whatever reason, smurfs and new players) are many of the reasons why it’s considered a horrible rank to be in

…for supports (and perhaps tanks) that is. I’d imagine you can just brute force your way out of bronze if you’re DPS just by fragging as tracer. I’ve never went down as low as bronze when I was a DPS for example, it’s just too easy to climb out of bronze and silver as DPS in my exprience.

If you’re DPS with at least a decent aim, you can usually just pick Tracer on most maps to win. And in 2CP, they can just go Symmetra, Junkrat or Torbjorn. Obviously, not all games are winnable even as DPS because you know…this game is Overwatch. But enough games should be winnable as DPS in bronze because you’re less reliant on your team to fulfill your job, which is to kill. I’ve heard DPS starts losing carry potential the higher they rank up though, which probably is true especially when tanks and supports starts becoming better.

Which again could be part of the reason why you see so many smurf DPS players instead of smurf tank or support. Since they’re fed up with not being able to carry as hard in their own elo and want easy games.

How did placements go?
