Explain why this game has so many fresh accounts if MMR isn’t rigged? It’s clearly trying to put people with volatile smurf MMR only or mostly against each other. This is stupid because it completely bypasses the normal pool of players so they get an easier route to GM.
I own 3 accounts. Two of which are good to go for competitive. I’m Gold. People buy alternate accounts for multiple reasons. I do it because I’m bored and put stupid rules on myself.
“I’m going to level this account without ever opening a lootbox” or “I’m going to see how far I can tank this account, then climb back up.”
When Blizzard refuses to give content for two years - you have to minecraft that bich and make your own fun.
The “ladder” starts you off with an MMR equivalent to 2350sr. That’s all it realistically does. EVERYONE starts there. I did back in season 3, you did whenever you started.
Stronger gamers start from diamond, I did that too. It is well known thing and was that way from the very beginning
Dafrans placements put him straight in Masters - he is Dafran after all. From there he made it straight to gm. Cause he is Dafran lol
I think the MMR is rigged. I think they simply do loyalty, it is a very common practice in gambling too.
Since there are serious doubts, even following the patent found and to which blizzard has not yet given an answer, it is possible that those accounts will enjoy better treatment for a period of time. To then be aligned (when the algorithm according to its instructions identifies them as “addicted”) to the same treatment as the others. But these are only hypotheses.
The basic problem is that we have no rights in this matter and therefore we can suffer any, such as, for example, not having explanations on the matchnaking of the service we paid for.
The only reason I point out that my new account seems to get placed vs mostly other new accounts/smurfs and with them is because this kind of shows these unranked to GM videos aren’t a great example of what climbing is like for everyone else, they are bypassing all the hardstuck trash games.
Correct. It makes sense why they do it cause people don’t like playing against smurfs as they ruin their matches, so getting them pulled out of low elos fast is preferable.
The part to add to this and why there is such a problem with it is that there are never MMR/SR resets. As a result, lets say your first five matches are disastrous: you have leavers in two, face a GM smurf on fresh level 25 account he created, and your Internet dies on one and the last was just luck, you get screwed forever on the account.
I heard a streamer, can’t recall now who was being asked how many games to GM on the account for the stream of an Unranked to GM. IIRC, he said if the placements did well around 40-60; if they went badly, then 80-100 or more. That’s the problem right there, and that’s someone at the top of the game. Imagine being a say 2350 player the midpoint of all new accounts. Trying now to recover from a bad set of placements that pushes you down in to say high Silver or mid Silver, its a hell of a slog to pull out. Add to that many people achieved rankings in past seasons, often with a buddy, and then cannot make that tier again but keep trying with new accounts. Someone with a “Diamond” ranking from say season 10 is just about on par with someone in mid-Gold now, seriously.
Effectively you “buy” an MMR / SR reset through a new account, the problem is this snowballs, because with everyone doing it, its constant weird pot luck on placements for everyone. All the while Blizzard is making money on accounts. People think this doesn’t mean anything, I assure you it adds up over time.
I’m starting to feel like some smurfs are genuingly stuck in low SR now. In one game in high bronze, we were up against a smurf widow (probably around plat). But we still ended up winning the fight because the smurf wouldn’t switch off widow even when she was being countered
And our team made call outs to make sure to focus on that smurf, so that widow was effectively useless. The smurf did switch to hanzo later on finally, but by then it was too late since our team capped the point by 80% and we won the game.
To be fair, I’m almost certain the doomfist in our team was also a smurf as well. Especially since both our doomfist and enemy widow were the only low level accounts. So without him, our team definitely wouldn’t have been able to win that fight. Smurfs getting wrecked by another smurf in bronze, there’s nothing more amusing than that lol.
No kidding, it happened to me on an account last season too. For some idiotic reason I did a set of placements on tank role on a Sunday afternoon when all the utter casuals and squeakers are on… absolute disaster, I was starting out down 500 or so SR from my averages.
