Smurfs are cheaters

Overwatch is JOKE. I tried playing comp again for the first time in 3 seasons… what a JOKE. It’s nothing but cheaters, does ANYONE at Blizzard even THINK AT ALL about the RAMPANT CHEATING PROBLEM???

SMURFING IS CHEATING. IT’s 30-40% smurfs, what is wrong with yall??? Forget ranked… why would I play a mode where wins and losses matter when almost HALF of the players are CHEATING??? And Blizzard does NOTHING… NOTHING about it. You people are pathetic to run a game like this…

And for anyone replying with ALL of the same old ridiculous “people don’t smurf”, “it’s in your head”, “how do you even know”, blah blah not interested in your complete and total nonsense…

EDIT: I’ve been playing PUGS on weekends with GMs, Masters, DIamonds, and one Plat. And me. I’ve been Gold 5 twice on the last game of the season. But I’m Silver.

Last night, I’m doing my placement matches and it says the average player rank in these matches is Silver 3. And my team is not making it out of ******** spawn!!!

I KNOW the difference between Silver players and high ranked players. And guess what? These people ADMITTED to being smurfs anyway!

WHY IN THE **** should I play out my placement matches against GMs and Masters players FAKING as Silvers??? When 2 of my 4 matches, my team can’t even make it out of spawn???

What kind of player experience is that??? What kind of “competitive” mode is Blizzard running???

What is the POINT of ALLLLLLLLLLL of this “work” they are putting into this game when the most basic CORE component of the game itself is such an UTTER JOKE???

No WONDER Microsoft is laying off thousands of people!! No WONDER Overwatch is the industry embarrassment on Steam’s reviews!!

Top management IGNORES these issues. They don’t even ADDRESS them. They are cowards that talk about anything and everything else but THIS. Does Riot do that? No. Even COD devs face this issue and talk about it. It’s not even ALL of Blizzard… IT’S the OW DEVS. It’s Aaron Keller, Jared Neuss, Morgan Maddren, and probably a handful of others that are silently even worse, because they sit there and let this happen and don’t even have the courage to face the community at all…

I don’t know, for all I know, Moran agree’s with me, but is forced by his bosses to ignore this… There is no way to know exactly who is in charge of what and who is pulling what strings…

But I sure hope SOMEONE… ANYONE… gets a hold of this game… You people are telling your low ranked players to just get into a port-a-potty and let a few GMs push you down the side of a mountain and then calling that “comp” mode. It’s cruel, it’s shameful, it’s disgusting.

EDIT #2:

A solution: How to not "fix" but IMPROVE the Smurfing Problem

I do not mind smurfs myself. The matchmaking always finds a way to make your games unbelievably difficult by giving you dead weight or unfathomably easy by giving you teammates with functional brains.

What does it even matter if a Smurf is on the other team? It was either a projected loss, in which case, nothing really changes unless someone who consistently underperforms magically wants to do well and now it is irrelevant because someone manipulated their MMR. Or it was a projected win and even being a Smurf is irrelevant because they get shafted with the horrendous teammates. It might shatter the mental of my teammates, I suppose? A player such as that should probably be losing anyway and it just unlucky that you became collateral damage.

If my team cannot handle one person stringing along zombified bots, we probably deserve the loss.

Clearly you didn’t read the rules that you agreed to by creating an account…

Anything that deliberately gives you an unfair advantage is considered cheating.

Now, smurfs do manipulate their MMR to get in to easier matches. And that activity gives them unfair advantage over others. So it falls under the definition of cheating that Blizzard uses on their platforms.

Fact that you don’t think it should be considered cheating is irrelevant. The only relevant thing here is what Blizzard considers cheating since it’s their platform. And evidently they think smurfs are cheating. Period.

edit:

I’ll include the sources of the above for full clarity:

No they are playing against worse players so they can stroke there own ego’s, you learn nothing by getting repeatedly destroyed by a player multiple tiers above you, the whole point of a competitive ladder is that you develop your skill in stages learning over time against people at your skill or slightly higher to get better. You don’t put a little league football team against experienced pros so why would you put little Johnny bronze against people who earn a living from being incredibly skilled at a game.

No. The goal of the game is to evolve and get better. Playing against a stronger opponent you develop faster.

So you expect to climb even if you can’t beat better players?

Sure but not someone that far exceeds your skill, you shouldn’t go against people more than two ranks above you as you learn more from a fair game than you do from getting bodied,

No, by playing with your rank you learn nothing and stand still.
Stop lying to yourself.
Fair game means that you play only for the fun you get from the fact of winning.
For fun you can play QP or Arcade.

Smurfs are forcing you to think and play better. Thanks to them.

Look it up. Devs don’t ban for smurfing, only deranking.

Also, it’s not an unfair advantage when it’s just a skill difference. There’s a difference between cheating and having an aimbot, wallhacks, etc. and playing below your normal level.

Notice how I said you shouldn’t play with people *more than two tiers above your skill" I’m not saying you should only play against your own rank only that you shouldn’t play against someone who is so far above your rank that you can never touch them.

Bronze should never play against someone higher than gold, gold should never play against someone higher than diamond and diamond shouldn’t play against people higher than masters.

A fair game is exactly that, the game could go either way and each side will have to push harder to win, the whole point of a game is to have fun if someone isn’t having fun they won’t stick around. If I’m going to win every game then it isn’t a fair game.

They don’t manage to rampant this problem since ov1. What do you think? Now their problem here is money. If they will rampant this problem of cheating, noone will play this game anymore. Noone play - noone pay. Nonsence.

To make thoes players feel better. It’s like in school, where grown ups booling low ones to feel better. Same situation is here. They don’t manage to play against their own. Weaklings.

This is one problem that they seem to be avoiding to address, the most they’ve done is ask players to not smurf, which didn’t seem to work.

It’s also easier to create new accounts to smurf in ow2, the account selling market seems to have gotten bigger. There’s even more “bots” in competitive, you know those groups of 3-5 accounts controlled by one person, you had to look harder to find them in ow1. The person controlling the accounts levels them to be comp playable and maybe deranks them to bronze by having them afk in matches, doing a little walk out of spawn to make sure they don’t get kicked. Then the accounts get sold. Which is all just really bad for the integrity of comp.

Smurfing has also been pretty much normalized at this point, I think we’re all familiar with the content farm that is unranked to grandmaster where a streamer or youtuber or whoever dunks on lower ranked players on a new account or smth till the account reaches grandmaster rank, slap on the word “educational” in the title to make it look better. So really I don’t think blizzard really gives a damn about smurfing at this point.

I did…

here:

Pretty dishonest of you to suggest that i would “look it up”…

It is when one deliberately manipulates their MMR to get easier matches…

I explained this already. Can you stop being dishonest now?

Again, what you personally think is irrelevant. What is relevant are rules established by Blizzard and definitions they used. And according to their definition smurfing is cheating.

Nobody has ever been banned for cheating because they smurfed.

Clearly not. Devs have already said smurfing isn’t bannable.

Deranking is bannable. Smurfing is not manipulating MMR.

I’m not being dishonest. You just have no clue what you’re talking about.

I quoted it twice from official in game code of conduct…

At this point you are clearly trolling!

Yes you are!

You ignore what is said just to say “I dOn’T tHiNk It’S cHeAtInG”. Which is dishonest!

With that in mind can you explain why nobody gets banned for cheating when they make a new account and only get actioned for gameplay sabotage if they throw games?

30-40%, honestly maybe. It was RAMPANT at the end of OW1, and I don’t imagine things going F2P has made it any better. Heck, a lot of players don’t even know what “smurf” means.

Yes Mr. NEET, the 4th account you made just to “start fresh” is a smurf account.
No, intentional deranking is not what smurfing is.
Yes, it’s even smurfing in QP: MMR is a thing and I suggest you look it up.
No, match making is not solely a competitive thing.

i think the only way to deter smurfing would be to make new accounts have a long process before they enter comp. it kind of is now i think? i never made a brand new account and had just this one so i dont have a clue what its like but i heard you have a limited hero pool and a LONG grind to get heroes? or can you buy them all right away lol?

also yea i am sure the account selling department or “sites” are pretty strong atm. third party sales is also a problem

the only way to manipulate mmr is to buy an account thats already rated or to throw on purpose.

lets say i made a new account right now, its perfectly okay for me to play until i hit my proper rank.
