A grandmaster playing in diamond is not allowed by the game, so why do so many smurfs think that it’s not cheating?
You are literally playing at a tier significantly lower than the one the game has placed you at, it is cheating. Not to mention that tons of smurfs just leave games when they start losing because their SR literally means nothing to them.
So why has Blizzard claimed smurfing isn’t problematic?
One reason: Money.
Smurfs earn them so much money, that’s why they won’t change it.
Blizzard have shown time and time again that they’re more concerned with making sure people are being accepting and nice to each other, rather than actual problems in the game, like balance changes (lmao taking 6 months to fix Mercy) and people literally cheating the system the easiest way possible.
But it’s ok! We have endorsements soon! So everyone can know who’s the wuvliest wittle snowflake in Overwatch!
Ironically enough, I believe that if Blizzard actually focused on fixing these cheating and balance issues, the game would be 1000x less frustrating to play.
Less frustration = Less tilt = Less toxic behaviour.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Guess what happens if you “end the argument”.
You don’t get replies ^^

Literally any other mode.
Comp isn’t practice mode.

Don’t worry, with the hide a profile thing happening, you won’t know if they are smurfs or not.
Problem solved.

I’ve heard people say that smurfing isn’t a problem because smurfs will very quickly rise to their appropriate rank if they continue playing well.
But that doesnt stop the fact that they’re still intentionally ruining many lower-ranked games to get there. >.>

They’re hidden MMR brings them back to their right ranks quickly I hear. The only problem is that they like to tank their ranks in comp and it screws everyone else over too.
People could learn a thing or two from smurfs …… after 3 headshots from the enemy Widow, maybe i should stay behind a shield or wall or something.

i’ve played since beta and my accounts go from this as the lowest to gm… the matches in platinum feel harder than diamond and master matches for sure. Platinum kiddies basically force you to lose cause they shoot and mean well, but they are unaware of how to control the map other than killing as many people as possible. I know my shot isnt as good as it use to be and i have to climb by flexing during the match either to dps / tank characters to counter the problem childfrom teh opposing team. anyhoo the matches pretty much all feel the same unless you are really pushing for top 500.

Oh…wait…
You were serious.
I WISH people who play this game were that intelligent.
But how about how all other modes you don’t get a semi 2-2-2 lineup so practice sucks
QP and Comp are vastly different animals play-wise, so a high ranked player that wants to try new Heroes will need to play in comp to learn them and the best way to do that is with a lower ranked account.

Plus what the hell is to stop them going on a throwing streak but not making it completely obvious to get back down there.
I am serious. I see people doing the same **** that doesn’t work over and over again. A couple of days ago i played Orisa on Ilios:Well and i sucked the enemy Hog into the well again and again …. not ones, not twice but 7 times! He died, respawned, ran back to the edge and died again …. for the entire game.
222 is bull**** below diamond.

its abusing the game or whatever its not “hacking” or “using cheats” but its exploitive
You’ll a composition that resembles it in comp however
Sadly, I have seen the same thing.
Was playing CtF before the changes. I was playing Bastion (who was the easiest pick to play those things at the time) and I wasn’t even hiding. Just sat in a corner in plain open view.
A Winston player comes in the room and I kill him. After that, I think, “Okay, he knows I’m there now. He won’t try that again”. Oh, how wrong I was.
This player kept doing the same thing over and over again. Run into the room, get killed by me, rinse, repeat. Never tried to defend with his shield, never tried going after me.
It got to the point that I actually got on Match Chat and typed this:
“Winston player, please stop. You keep doing the same thing over and over again to the point that it’s getting embarrassing. I’m honestly getting tired of killing you every time. You’ve got to know that I’m there by now. Try changing up your strategy please for my sake”.
They came in and popped their Ult, trying to kill me. I still killed them again, but at least they finally did something different.
played against 3 GMs yesterday, in FFA, barely beat 2 of them and 1 was rank 86. I’m a 2730 something (highest in comp was 2984). either they weren’t trying, they were boosted, I was just lucky to find everyone but them, or I am much better than my stats say and I’m betting on them not trying or me being lucky
smurfing doesn’t seem to be as much as a problem as people think
