Question, is it bannable for smurfs to play on the rank they deserve to be in?

(Like the original account was masters, and your smurf also got masters.)

any type of smurfing is not bannable, only throwing games/deranking is.

Smurfing overall isn’t banable by the devs but if you smurf on the same rank I don’t think people will know that you’re smurfing anyways.

That’s… not smurfing. That’s just an alt account.

That would be an alt account, my friend. A smurf would be that guy in Masters playing in like mid-diamond and lower

I go by “smurfing” as a different way to say alt accounting. But I guess now it means alt accounting on lower ranks.

The meaning is different in different games. In Overwatch it’s generally the latter.

Uh, no.

If you play your alt normally and get placed at/very near your main, then you’re fine. It’s just an alt.

If you throw/derank on your alt, and/or get placed in a rank that is significantly far from your mains rank, then you have a smurf.

Alts are frowned upon by some, (I’m 50/50), but it’s not a smurf. Trying to climb isn’t wrong, purposely staying low to grief is.

Simply the act of having an alt account isn’t typically considered smurfing, if you’re playing legitinately you’ll get adjusted very quickly. You may use an alt account to smurf, but it doesn’t mean you’re smurfing. Smurfing is an intentionally nefarious act.

i always thought smurfing is a someone who deranks on purpose to farm in bronze. you know those teams that say throwing to bronze on the LFG thing. they can be formerly plat or gold players and still be smurfs if they derank to zero just to farm in my opinion. dont have to be diamond, masters or above

now when a streamer or high masters + player do those unranked to gm then i dont really care i just hope they dont get into my games somehow. (probably wont since they would start at around 2500 i think… im usually 1600-2300)

But his new account wasnt masters in the start. So he had to manipulate and stomp through till he got there. U can turn poop around as much as u want, it still stinks, its still poop.

Smurfing in your own rank is not smurfing; it’s playing on an alt account. There’s no harm in doing so. It’s perfectly legitimate
