I have a phone number on my account that I no longer have access to. I sent in a ticket and responded to the customer service representative with all the information needed to get it updated and have not received a response. I was reading the SMS requirement information and it stated there just needed to be a phone number on the account. When logging into Overwatch 2 will I be prompted to get a code from the phone number or as long as there is a phone number on my account it is ok?
Same problem here, my phone number used for battlenet is dead. Now I can’t change “phone number” on my account because it needs sms verification to my old phone number which I don’t have access anymore. I opened a support ticket 2 days ago, and got no response.
They did reply once to me and they stated I had to send them a bunch of information including a copy of my drivers license (with certain information blocked out) and they could correct it but it has been over 2 days with no response since I sent them everything. They should have an answer security question thing or something if you don’t have that phone number anymore.
I see, thank you for the response. I just check my active ticket, and my ticket from 2 days ago is gone (lol ?). I’m making a new one now. I just hope they delete this sms based verification thing change it to another type of authentication, OR at least give the player a chance to change their phone number to a new one with a proper help page, what-to-do list, and instant response.
Tickets are not deleted. Check your answered tickets. Opening a new one will make it harder for staff to help you and make the process take longer.
I was wondering if you knew the answer to this question - when logging into Overwatch 2 will I be prompted to get a code from the phone number on the account or as long as there is a phone number on my account I will be able to play?
Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact answer. Making a guess about the process, if your account has SMS protection enabled and it’s not your first time logging in, you should be able to log in through Bnet. But if you log in from a new location, you’d need a code as you do now with the authenticator.
This is a guess and NOT confirmed by Blizzard.
So the SMS protection as far as you know is for logging in and not required every time you log into the game correct? I understand about it being a guess. I really appreciate the response and help.
Again, I don’t know anything more than you. I based my guess on how their other game titles work (WoW).
Got it. I appreciate the responses!
Also same, radio silence for 3 days now after uploading my ID… very annoying and unprofessional.
